Something I've noticed a lot on here over the years, is how frequently women will compliment themselves on their profiles, claiming to be intelligent and good looking, that they have high standards, and will probably have names like 'sexybabe' or 'princesshottie', and eventually you stop noticing, but if a guy ever does the same, or call himself something like 'hunkystud' or 'sexymuscleboy' you immediately think 'what a twat'.

Anyone else ever noticed this?

I cam think of quote a fee guys and couples on here who have usernames and profiles congratulating themselves for certain attributes or personality traits. I don't think it's just the ladies. Maybe because you're looking for women OP you notice it more on theirs since you look at their profiles more often? Speaking as someone who perves all sorts I'd say it's an even spread. Some of them may even be self-deprecating...

Neither, my username was always meant to be slightly tongue in cheek when I conceived it years ago, and was intended to imply the mind is the sexiest organ, rather than me literally having a 'sexy brain'.

I relate profiles to estate agents - everyone makes the best of what they have and has license to go a bit OTT with the descriptions.

As in 'the brain is sexy' rather than 'my brain is sexy'? Fair enough. I've read the profiles of every person on this thread though, and only one has described themselves as attractive, and more men than women as intelligent. I actually think women are less likely to do so than men.

However Ligeia's point above may well be correct, that you notice if more in their profiles because that's what you're reading, while I tend to look at more male ones.

No I don't. And personally I think we are all entitled to big ourselves up on here, seeing as we're on here to attract people. I'm hardly likely to put my faults and foibles on my profile. I lack success as it is!

Obviously as I am only looking for single men, I only notice their profiles, and the amount that state they are good looking always amazes me.

So I don't think it is just women or couples. But I would never have the audacity to categorise myself in that way (ignore the user name)

Mine says I'm intelligent, because I am. I'm fairly confident I can back up that claim if required to do so.

It also says I'm not beautiful. I think my profile balances what I think is good and bad about myself. It's got photos I don't like much, but which show what I look like.

Even my name is a tongue in cheek dig at my own nature, not that many people understand it.

I'm often asked if I'm really a Virgo or told I spelt Virgo incorrectly.

I don't automatically think anyone bigging him/herself up is an idiot. It tends to be when people behave like idiots I think they're idiots.

I never quite understand why people need to describe themself, as in "good-looking", "handsome", "pretty", "not beautiful" - all of these things are in the eye of the beholder so if you have photos, surely people can decide for themselves?

In my case it's an initial filter for those looking for beautiful women because my face photos aren't public, (at least not at the moment).

I'm fairly average looking, so those wanting beautiful need not apply.

If they're happy to wait to see the photos, (if I decide I'm potentially interested), then that's fine.

Words and meaning are specific to the individual rendering them.

I had to choose a suit for a funeral and I went for shiny and considered poser material. My brother scorned me saying u can't wear that at a funeral its to showy. All I saw was a shiny suit.

Ppl have to be careful they are not infringing how they define things to be onto others. I guess that's where confusion and arguments begin

Very, very true...so many arguments are essentially based on different associations with words and different beliefs on what is approrpiate. In many cases it really does not matter as it is one person's opinion versus that of another.

I quite agree that sometimes the words chosen, username and text of profile or message, can be a turn off.

And of course, one person's turn off can be another person's turn on.

To answer the question.. I suppose my name can be read like that, although actually my bum is the part of me I dislike the most but after putting my pics up ages ago it got comments and Lucy (from SOTB) I think it was started calling me hot bot so I just changed it for a laugh and it's stuck in slightly different variations now for 2 years.

I don't really pay attention to usernames like that but I do think that when people describe themselves In that way on a profile it's funny.
