Today on the path was a small brown fish, about three inches long.

Thought it was dead, prodded it and still alive.

Dunno how it got there or how long.

Took to the beach about five minutes away and let it go after letting waves lap over it for a while. It looked dead for a while then swam off happy as a small fishy can be.

It was on its belly. Looked like some sort of mudskipper. I think??

We think that maybe a local fisherman dropped it or threw it from a net or something.

It's a good few hundred meters from the water so would be amazed if it had got there by itself.

Incidentally there was a big cat just about to pounce on it also he was under the car eyeballing the fishy.
