At work we were debating sentence given to that scumbag Glitter...

Two comments made..

" well then again thats was how it was back then"

And

"no adays you only have to brush your arm against a female, and your in trouble.."

Got me thinkg, the flirting rules have altered so much now. That does this athually make youngsters more repressed... thus prepared to take more risks??

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

So, basically your discussion at work was that it's just normal to push the boundaries, even to the point of abuse?

The basic rules for young people remain the same, however they are faced with images and demands we never experienced. Young women reporting that their first sexual experience isn't a kiss and a grope but an expectation of oral. I am not sure they repressed but possibly oppressed by these expectations.

in Lancashire

think there is a vast difference between 'normal' flirting and predatory paedophilia..

one would like to think that with such cases being dealt with even after this length of time that it may deter others from acting the same and also that education for youngsters will help..

a justice system prepared to listen will be a bonus too..

It may have been taboo and swept under the carpet on occasion in the past but it has never been right to have sex with children

There is an argument that we shouldn't judge the past by our contemporary standards. A pat on the arse in 1971 seems to be just the way it was back then and rightly today would be treated far more seriously. Everybody has the propensity for change, a bum slapper in the 70s I would hope see now that his actions were wrong. Should we prosecute him for past slapping of bums? I tend to think not. Having sex with children or anybody unable to consent is and always has been illegal. These people should be prosecuted. Whilst a bum slapper can learn not to slap bums and understand why he shouldn't a person who finds children sexually attractive will always find them so. Yes it can be managed in some cases and those that have served their time I believe should have the right to start again with help. If we continue to demonise we push them underground. It makes me sick to think of them but we have to realise that we will always have these people in society and they need help too, if only from themselves.

Surrysensual,

I could,nt agree more.

I did not take part in the work debate merely listened as it was already getting quite heated.

Though I was struck with the contrast of commentsby my older maturer colleagues.

Not sure if they were aware if what they were saying, being honest or deliberatly trying to provoke.
