I've been getting a few messages recently starting 'Hello, I've heard lots about you from [person who I've never heard of]'. Is this a new thing? Or have they really heard lots about me from people I've never met?

Not had that, but I'm getting loads of "hey, long time no speak" type messages from people I know for a fact I've never spoken to. Think maybe they're hoping out of social embarrassment I'll just go along with it.
