I hope I'm not the only one who judges by a photograph!?

I hate that I do it and wish I could change.

Well, in a lot of cases we don't have much else to judge by. Bare profiles and crap pictures of messy rooms, dirty toilets in the background etc

I do it too, but I don't really want to change that about myself. My judgements are usually proved right.

I use photos as part of making up my mind if I want to meet someone, so I do too.

You have to decide somehow. It would be fairer to meet everyone and see if there's a spark but who has time (or the energy or inclination) to do that?

Visual images are powerful so it's natural to put a lot of emphasis on them. But you also need to look at what else the profile says as that person maybe wholly inappropriate for you based on their likes, dislikes, opinions

Stating the bleeding obvious I know !

Of course I do, I don't apply the same philosophy in real life, I can't become attracted to somebody for other reasons, but on here you don't have the time or patience to talk to the 100s of guys messaging to find out if they are nice. So instant attraction first, personality second. I've spoke to some really hot guys I've later blocked for being a knob though.

Its a natural thing to do.. The people who say they dont judge usually judge people who do and admit it!

I've seen some stunningly gorgeous photos only to find that the profile text of the user leaves me speechless for the wrong reasons.

I think a trade off between the two has to happen to help me decide to message or not.

(Banter amongst forumites is a different story though).

I give myself a bit of a hard time.

When I'm out n about or at work, I find myself looking at guys and thinking if I saw you on a dating website or fab I probably wouldn't even message you but, as Iv seen you in the flesh if go for a social.

I do, but I'm worried that I might be getting carried away with it. At first, I'd just bang my hand down when I did it. Then I found myself giving a little speech, such as 'for the crime of skidmarks in your pants, which you show a blatant disregard for the norms of checking before snapping, I sentence you to the maximum term allowed for this crime, which is to be iggied.'

This wasn't enough. I bought a small toffee hammer to bang down and this satisfied my craving for judging for a while, but eventually I moved on to harder things. I began to cite previous decisions that had formed a precedent, but distinguishing between these if there was a mitigating factor to take into account.

Heavens above, I've even started putting on a special red dressing gown when looking at pictures now. I begin to Dread this Judge stuff. I possibly need help.

We both do, as of course do most people, but how else can you filter out the ones you want to meet? They may be really nice people, but in this swinging 'bubble' we're in if you don't fancy the look of them then there's no

point taking things further.

For me a good picture catches my eye & interest, then chatting to them I judge their character. Sadly, sometimes both don't go well together

Even making a decision on "do I want to meet this person or not?" is making a judgement.

It's a complicated subject.

Its nice to hear people like to chat and I do believe it from the forumites, as its evident they like the banter etc. But unfortunately the majority of my messages were just,..."wanna meet now?" Or the like! Tbh that what really put me off meeting anyone off here, and so just use it to keep in touch with friends and hopefully make new ones too.

I have been assured that my pic ate crap. That I do infact look remotely human in the flesh and that I possibly should do some new ones.

I cant be arsed as I am a camera phobe. If that is an issue then I am happy to let people pass me by.

Anyway, they do it for a lot of other reasons too

I guess that's why it makes me feel pretty shallow as I haven't got the best pics and am also a camera phobe.

of course we do, if he hasn't got a cock pic ask yourself why. don't know why anyone would want pics of themselves with their hair looking a mess either.

Ditto I can't stand messages that say " want to meet now, today, tonight!

Especially when it states on my profile I won't meet like that.
