Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I read the first quarter of the first book and wasn't impressed so I will not be going to see it at the cinema. I read lots of books, quite like porn but I just found it boring however a girl I work with who had not read a single book since she left school 20 years ago read them all and loved them, she gets embarrassed about sex and would never watch porn! She is very excited about the film so some love it some hate it but I know it's not for me

I guess it depends on whether you believe it's a true reflection of a BDSM relationship (it's not) or if it's an abusive relationship (it is).

I don't think it's either. It's just a love story hyped up but a smidgen of poorly researched bdsm.

I'd like to see it as I read all of the books plus I haven't been to the cinema in ages lol

Having seen the trailor it looks like it has the feel of one those american tv movies of 20 years ago. Like another contributor we tried to read it but very soon lost all interest. Not a film that we have any interest in.

The Mrs loved the book. I've often refered to it as 50 shades of shite

I read this about 5 or 6 years ago (perhaps a little longer) when it was nothing but a Twilight fan fiction. The characters (whilst their names have been changed) are Edward and Bella. So basically, the books are based on another badly written series of books.

I have read better fan fiction but unfortunately those authors didn't have the access to a publisher or a clever marketing team.

The Crossfire novels by Sylvia Day (not based on someone else's work) are marginally better.

I read the first book whilst I was dating a guy from up north and someone had left it on the train so I read it! It was poorly written and I hated the way she referred to a fanny as the sex! "He touched my sex" surely there was a better word she could've used.

I didn't like the inconsistencies, like the girl was a virgin and never done anything sexual before yet the first time she sucked him off she was a blow job pro able to deep throat him!

Would've been more realistic if her first time were a bit blundery and shit!

That being said I will watch the film!

Stephanie Meyer has a lot to answer for in this world. Not only do we have 'sparkly' love lorn vampires we also have some of the worst dross to ever get published 'inspired' by her work.

If it would take an infinite number of monkeys on an infinite number of typewriters an infinite number of years to come up with Shakespeare's works then this was a couple of them in an afternoon on a speak and spell

She was very fond of him touching her 'little bundle of nerves' too.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I'm not watching it. I'm not especially into the sub/dom scene, although I think it is interesting. However, I have noticed that since that book came out, I'm getting a lot more messages from chaps who have become dom's overnight. It's got to have been the biggest stimulus to the plastic dom industry ever.

The book was so badly written it was a joke. It would be nigh on impossible for the film to be as bad

I quite enjoyed the books, so will watch the film, but then I tend to read any old rubbish with the usual plot:

Girl unhappy and single. Girl meets boy. Something happens, will they stay together?! Oh look yes they have done, happy every after!

Do agree with Athena though, Virgin to sex maniac with multiple orgasms and willing to do anything.. Hmm maybe not

Books were terribly written and repetitive. I'll watch the film but only when I can get it online for free out of sheet curiosity. I'm not paying to watch what will probably be shite x

Im surprised the film is not sponsored by durex the amount of times she felt she had to mention they were using one...we get it,they have safe sex!!!
