The council needs to be subjected to the fullest force of the law and any wages they got payed should be taken back or recovered from there banks and property. They failed the city and the people.

I suspect the lawyers are gonna have some lucrative fun suing the council on behalf of some ratepaying victims at the expense of all ratepayers.

Criticism has been more at the level of the elected politicians than the staff. So to talk about wages isn't really correct.

I read the report at work today and it's pretty damning.

Problem is that as each council appears to behave like its own little kingdom, Rotherham may learn from this situation, but I doubt the education would go any further. Afterall if I recall correctly a couple of counties south had a fairly big abuse issue where again the council turned a blind eye, and that sorry saga failed to help those in Rotherham.

All of the councillors being put up for election rather than the usual election by thirds means hopefully the people of Rotherham will have the opportunity to hold those councillors still serving who were involved accountable.

No, the commissioners going in will be tasked with dealing with the staff situation. A lot of senior officers concerned have already gone.

But the culture of a council is driven by its leadership and that's where the blame should rightly lie.

The investigation found a lot of staff who had tried to blow the whistle and escalate concerns from the very beginning but it was also squashed from the top level - I don't think the entire staff should be tarred with the same brush.
