"There are some sports in which competitors represent the UK and others where they represent their Home Nation. How do people feel about this? Should it be consistent? All UK or all Home Nation? Thoughts." Whats your thoughts on it?

"I think the OP means should sportspeople represent Great Britain, or England/Scotland/Wales - and in this case I think it's less to do with the individual's choice than the way their particular sport is governed. For instance in football each of the countries in the UK has its own separate FA (governing body). Whereas in athletics the governing body covers the whole of the UK. " That's exactly what I mean

Personally I think we should have a national team to represent the UK in all sports, but this will not happen because there is too much money and power tied up in having 4 governing bodies overseeing 4 mediocre teams rather than 1 good team and 1 governing body.

" I'd far rather they keep local swimming pools open and running rather than fund "elite" athletes who may or may not win a medal or two. "

And most you will compete as GB

I assume then that you don't consider the 90% of athletes who don't win medals, let alone reach finals, to be a "loss making" entity? The legacy of London 2012? Yep, the numbers of regular swimmers has declined from 2.9m to 2.6m, some legacy.
