On the radio an example of why this new directive is being used .

A woman was in the labour ward and what was obviously a doctor walked up and stuck his hand in her to check her cervix . No words . Just went straight in ... so she said I guess you work here then ?

Sounds a bit like a meet when the woman is strapped to a bed and blindfolded - no words .. just turn upand do the business

And rightly so...it's an appalling way to behave

I'm a huge supporter of the medical profession, but I agree that some of them, particularly in NHS hospitals in my experience, could do with a lesson in everyday good manners.

I was once admitted to A&E at Derby Royal Infirmary, after a week long bout of Montezuma's revenge. I had to change into a gown The doc asked me to lie on my side. Next thing I know he shoves his fat finger straight up my arse. I nearly hit the roof.

As a 21yo it took me 25 years to get over the phobia of anything going near my arse

(I think I'm well over it now though )

Clacton-On-Sea, Essex

Everyone has different experiences and opinions.

When I was on the labour ward I was sick of having to give my verbal permission every single time (and as there was a trainee they kept asking if he could check too)

I was of course happy for my opinion to count the first time, but when they had to check me every hour I was just like "You've done it 3 times already and I laughed and said I didn't care... just go right ahead and get on with it"

The worst part was that the "trainee" was clearly better at his job than the actual midwife seeing as she told me my waters were intact despite admitting she couldn't find what she needed... he found it straight away and told me what I already knew (second child) but she brushed him off and acted like he was wrong!!

Heard a doctor say to a patient "you have prostate cancer, so what!"
