Ok, I know it's not necessarily the right place to ask but I thought as there is quite a range of people on here, including some with legal backgrounds, I was wondering if anyone had ever been through this. I keep seeing things online about presenting divorce papers but me and my ex weren't married, also, does anyone know how much I could expect to pay to get my name removed from a mortgage? I know he has to have someone to refinance but assume you have to have a solicitor involved?

You'd be better off just speaking to your mortgage provider. They'll know the ins and outs of your mortgage better than anyone here.

Yorkshire area

There are 2 sections to this

1. You can remove someone "name" by both simply writing a letter, clearly the person wishing to remove the name has to stipulate they dont live there etc. However this doesnt remove them from the financial side, merely they will not receive any more letters etc

2. The only way to remove them completely and have it all in 1 name for payments, profits from sales etc is to re mortgage im afraid. However you cannot be in arrears for a period of 6 months if you use your current lender but others may take it on

The fees will be around £1500 to £3000 as with any mortgage
