my sister has gone away for couple of days and I'm babysitting my 16 month old niece and it seems she has headline any idea what the best stuff to use is? I bloody hate them!

Take her to a chemist in the morning. Most treatments will be too strong for a baby's scalp.

Wet hair, conditioner (leave it on). Comb through with a nit comb. Pesky little blighters.

Nitty gritty comb and conditioner every few days as you won't get everything first time make sure you do round ears and back of neck as that's where they like to lay eggs.....good luck

Hereabouts

Tea tree and mint shampoo and conditioner. Use a fine comb, preferably a nit comb with plenty of conditioner in their hair. Then after you've been through the hair once, rinse it all out. Then if you've got a spray bottle, mix a little bit of the conditioner in with water and spray it on towel dried hair. Works as a detangler and the tea tree and mint helps get prevent the spread

i hate them with a passion,, i do checks twice a day

get the metal tooth comb from boots, wash her hair and apply lots of conditioner. Section the hair and go through it several times.

i use a gel spray which i apply to dry hair, leave in for 15 mins. you then apply shampoo before you rinse it out with water. that should hopefully suffocate eggs or any remaining live lice.

It doesn't matter what you do, if the child that she got them off isn't treated, they'll be back.

I tried every prep known to Boots and none of them worked. It was a nit comb and conditioner that was the only way, and even then my daughter got them back within days. It was a nice bonding time with her though.

conditioner works better than lice treatments..just have to keep doing it....at a local school around here they actually sent out letters asking people to use the conditioner method instead of other treatments

I have no idea where she has picked them up from I'm assuming my sisters friends children? I best not get them will not be happy at all! X

not sure on this tip but my friend applys hair spray to her daughters hair as the lice have difficulty latching onto the hair apparently.. could be worth a shot

Absolutely nothing!

Wash the hair, condition but do not rinse and run the nit comb through, then rinse. Repeat daily and do everyone in the house, wash bedding ect. No need for chemicals at all

I always used conditioner and comb on my girls. If you do it every time they bath you should keep them at bay

i agree, my kids used to get them almost on a daily basis when they were at junior school and when they are eggs they are very hard to see, they are picked up so easily, they may not have hatched till after she dropped her off so she may well not have known

They are rife in schools its just how it is

My daughter had hair down to her waist and it used to take hours of checking with conditioner and nit comb

She had beautifully soft and silky hair though

Nitty gritty comb is best no need for anything else as a lot have got immune to the treatments. As has been said use conditioner to comb through every night
