An infant pulling the trigger is just being inquisitive

A toddler pulling the trigger is playing make believe

Water pistols don't worry me too much. It's the stuff on kids TV and even in the majority of kids books that concerns me. Having been punched this weekend by my son because "the Hulk hits when he's angry so I do too"...

Oh and the latest threat mine shout at everyone is "I'm going to chop your head off". They are only little and I was horrified. Turns out their school has been studying Henry 8th so the older kids have been talking about beheadings in front of the younger ones in the playground...

Grrr.

Needless to say we do not have guns in the house!

(Just read that need story though, he got both parents with only one shot!)

Having a loaded gun in the house with a 3 year old there is not right......... At 3 everything is a toy to them even a gun as they don't know the laws at that age . Gun laws should be changed to keep people safe .

The beliefs that they need guns and are entitled to guns are too deeply ingrained and the pro-gun associations and lobbyists are too strong for anything to change any time soon.

I wouldn't worry too much. I...er...had an above average interest in explosives and such when I was young. I discovered Chemistry and all was well.

I have yet to design any weapons.

They have been offered time and time again to re-assess their gun laws and they absolutely refuse

carry a gun, be prepared to die by a gun

Seriously, the 3 year old shoots both parents story involves a 9 mm i.e. semi-automatic, rather than a revolver.

For that type of weapon, a round must be chambered and the safety off; both actions would be beyond the abilities of most children which suggests that the weapon was loaded, chambered and the safety was off; not the way to carry a weapon, ever.

Allowing the child access to the weapon will, probably, result in a criminal negligence charge against the parent that owned the weapon.

Why does everyone blame the parents? The government should legislate to prevent the sort of behaviour that leads to such accidents.

In the UK we are saved from much gun stupidity precisely because we banned hand guns. It's not the fault of idiotic and badly constructed knee jerk legislation that estimates now suggest there are more illegal hand guns in UK than the previous total!

We should be introducing laws to prevent people running out of fuel on public roads. This sort of behaviour is life threatening

It's a very good point and one that always lends me to think, should we just give dangerous stuff away to morons that want it, like drugs and guns, when combining the two they have this effect of holding the weapon side on or sometimes above their head which really helps them to miss any target anyhow!.

I once read that class A drugs are about 20£ a kilo to produce, and a half decent handgun around 250£ after doing the sums I really think it could be cost effective way of helping species control!.

Spelling's odd really.

Bear arms would suggest they're very hairy with claws at the end.

Bare arms suggests short sleeves and an unnatural preoccupation with depilation.
