Do your status updates have an impact on how many messages you receive?

When femmes did her status shuffle once I got over 80 messages in half an hour all saying the same thing, I went march and took it off

As I see it...update your status...this shows in the updates...people see you're online....if what you post is of interest they message you. Definitely has an impact on the volume.

I often look at a profile because of what written in there status. If it's witty and interesting rather than the hundreds of 'looking for a meet ' or 'wanting a single bi female'

some of the status's is rather interesting as they are on what i have seen

from naming and shaming to damn right insults on there statuses even seen the status having a go at the admins on here as well

but some are a laugh and well some are interesting as i have found

Mine usually relate to a friend or a song lyric that's stuck in my head, and yes some times people take them seriously and they generate messages, I just reply saying it's for a friend etc

I have a lot less when mine says working/doing both jobs or similar though yesterday I got 'what u doing later' which got 'what does my status say?' and this morning an offer of a fun weekend in March to which I declined. If I put about being annoyed by something I get loads

I refused to look. As to status updates, mine tend to be song lyrics or book and film quotes mainly because the yellow highlight on the main page when my status is empty annoys me. If I want loads of messages then anything slightly sexual does the trick I find.

I have mine to 'looking for a fuck right now' when i'm looking, or 'not looking' if too many people message me asking. So it does affect the amount of messages i get.

Yes. I create a new one each day, attempting to be witty as an exercise in getting my brain thinking creatively. Some are better than others.

I've had a fair few nice messages, plus 2-3 complaints about individual ones that people thought insulting.
