How do people try and ensure they don't miss those hidden gems when bombarded with messages? Surely you sometimes miss those worth talking to? x

You can't ensure it, simple as that.

However I do cast my eye down the avatars in my inbox and if they're eye catching I'll investigate further.

Maybe the hidden gems need to make themselves unhidden

Those that have enough diamonds already won't mind a few being missed. Those that want more diamonds will be extra vigilant and unlikely to miss them.

I just find people state on there profile to send one message and not to pester, hence if someone isn't reading your messages or mass deleting how are you meant to get noticed? surely that just leads you to think they saw you and are uninterested and if you actually take note of what the profile says you aren't going to message again... x

Yes that's true it's a tricky one.

Maybe use the forums / chat rooms alongside messaging to get noticed.

yeah, forums tend to be a bit more interactive than simply messaging. The issues then arise when you click with someone but than cant PM them because of their filters lol x

Yes but if the click feeling is mutual they can either message you or lift their filters to see whether you PM...

Yeah i guess that's true but i doubt very many people think to adjust filters to allow the occasional person to message.

Plus if they aren't the sort of people to message first then you are at a loss surely? x

Ah well I have before whilst commenting in a forum thread and bingo it worked!

Mine is an age filter to help reduce the incoming mail but it's not set in stone.

I would say that if someone reads but doesn't reply but doesn't delete, or doesn't read, then they may be interested but didn't get round to replying.

If they read and delete soon after then they may be interested but it's a bit less likely.

I look at the profile of everyone who messages me, but many messages I leave to reply to later and don't get round to it.

In that case I can't see any problem with sending another message a month or so later.

If they don't reply with a no thanks, or block you (!), I'd say it's fine to message again after a while.

What isn't so good, and which happens a lot in my experience, is messaging again after a few weeks when someone has said no thanks, as if they haven't messaged before. Doing that usually results in a block.

I think so because sometimes peoples circumstances change,I know ive met up with people who months or even longer previously I hadn't met up with for some reason or other

Others may disagree though,we all use the site differently

I move my age filters around to keep mail down to a manageable amount. If I say no thanks I usually block. If I read and don't reply it's because I want to come back and have a longer look

Give up, or make a note and try again in 6 months, if you're still here and still interested.

Plus hotlist them and keep an eye out for them putting up meet requests. They may be more likely to reply when they're actively looking.
