Why is it whenever you ask for a coffee so many places give you a latte?? If I'd wanted a latte I'd have frickin asked for one!

Just because they're better so they probably think you should have one

Latte and coffees are ok, but they're no cappuccino.

There is only one way to resolve this......

Fight. No drink earl Grey tea instead, a drink from a more civilised age not crude and cumbersome like a coffee.

Nether regions of the back of beyond

I always ask for a black coffee with cold milk on the side and 80% of the time they say "would you like a latte or capuccino?" Never fails to amaze me lol

I don't know, I always ask for what I want.

I'd guess though in an independent coffee shop a milky coffee is a standard beverage.

Sadly, you may have to use the lingo. Or print this out and hand it over to each barista you order from...

Is there a name for an ordinary coffee? An English coffee perhaps?

I have never had this problem...but then I ask for a black coffee with cold milk on the side....they can't really go wrong with that.

I only drink black coffee, so when I ask for an Americano, which is apparently what these "baristas" call expresso with extra water, why oh why would they automatically put milk in?

I will return it and say I asked for an Americano, not a coffee with milk in it, just like it says on your menu up there...

A flat white is coffee with milk as opposed to a latte.

East Lancashire

I know the problem. Whenever I go into my local coffee shop and ask for a regular white coffee, they always ask if I would like a latte, or cappuccino, or some such other fancy Dan substance.....are they deaf, stupid, or just plain ignorant......REGULAR WHITE COFFEE, no frills or extras.

Rant over.
