So which movie has the best opening sequence.

My top ones are

Blade. The nightclub with the blood sprinklers is my all time fave.

Indiana Jones. Deadly spikes, betrayal and a huge stone ball.

Akira. Wow just wow.

So what's your faves

The Barb Wire opening - the full version, not the toned down one - is good.

The Lego Movie. Then again, the whole thing is excellent.

I agree, it's lovely. It didn't quite make me cry but close.

The first film to pop into my head was blade, the music, blood spray and Wesley snipes with the swords just mesmeric, sadly the rest of the film just doesn't quite match.

Up is also beautiful and achingly emotional

For me it is TT closer to the edge, I know it is not quite what some would call a film. Bat the beginning of the film you are perched on the nose of a bike, launched down best hill.

As this is a sex themed site and thinking out of the box so to throw one in there, the opening scene of a decent X 70s flick called Jack and Jill was pretty good. Apologies in advance for knowing this.

A couple of others that impacted me in different ways.

The beginning of Star Wars IV had me awestruck as a 13yo teenager.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl tickled me

Yep, I agree, the opening to UP is just so heartstring tuggingly brilliant. Guaranteed to moisten the eye of the hardest man.

There Will Be Blood. No dialogue for the first 12 minutes or so and you don't even notice.

The opening proper is from about 4:30, but the rest is certainly worth watching if you like normal guys and girls with superhuman abilities.
