Bradford

For something more basic?

Tbh, I don't think I could. I very rarely call or text anyone, I mainly use it for games and Facebook.

And fab, let's not forget about fab.

a Primark shoebox in Leicester

I'd miss the convenience of checking things in the internet, such as cinema time, directions to a shop in other cities and so on......... other than that, wouldn't miss it at all.

Nope! Update them, make them better, faster, more smart and cheaper (yeah right) no doubt many of us will be knocking on the door money at the ready tongue hanging out. What a gullable lot we are.

never had one - have an old Nokia simply for phone calls and texts. Personally think all these things have led to the art of (proper) conversation dying. Was in a restaurant the other night chatting to each other - everyone else was on their phone and taking absolutely no notice of each other.

They seem to have taken over people's lives

I'd go back in an instant. I use a netbook if I want internet on the move. Can't use a smartphone whilst driving (you have to swipe and look at the screen to initiate voice commands), can't text one handed and feel the keys. They do the basics of telephony so badly - I hate them, especially android which must have been designed by a yts with an nvq in clipboard management. Form over function - hate hate hate hate them.
