You get to a stage when you ignore it - then when it hits - shit street... The MET has just bought the most expensive piece of weather predicting computer tech it has ever bought, and not got it right once since! I dont know how they can seriously be entertained and not have lettuces thrown at them whilst waving their tits about trying not to put innuendos out about "hard fronts" - " coming in"

"Why do the papers continuously scaremonger the population with these weather warnings, when it hardly ever happens. " Here, here. And they keep inventing 'new' weather for us to worry about. (Although I found Thundersnow less scary when I imagined her as the albino Thundercat) Mr ddc

I very much doubt the "met" as you put have anything at all to do with this story. They do five day forecasts and if you read there small print they state the fifth day drops to 30% accuracy such is the complexity of out particular location, however there 24-48 hour forecast has improved to 64%

They do five day forecasts and if you read there small print they state the fifth day drops to 30% accuracy such is the complexity of out particular location, however there 24-48 hour forecast has improved to 64%" But they do have everything to do with the stories of weather warnings from the start of Jan that didn't happen. Everything from Flooding, to weather bombs hitting the majority of the country, heavy rain, 100+mph winds, snow and icy conditions that people prepare for, either food, clothing or transport wise, that only happened in an isolated pockets of the nation. When it does actually hit - we are not warned, or when we are warned; we have been warned that many times through over escalated terminology that we simply ignore it and get caught out and people get into trouble. Their 24-48hr forecast have improved 64% ... what is that up from - a 50-50 bet of getting it right?

They did warn about the weather bomb, it's not new terminology, it's been called that for years and yes it hit Scotland and was pretty bad!. All the other stuff comes from the papers, stop buying them if it annoys you so much, but it's hardly fair to blame the met office
