So after nearly 500 years the C of E have a lady bishop. Apart from one vocal dissenter it appears all the bishes were up for it.

Total cost of the ceremony today was estimated to be £500k

I wish her well but its all a bit out dated and expensive!

Bradford

Does that now mean that "bashing the bishop" is now a reference to violence towards women?

Of course and if that is what she wants and it has the effect of blowing away old discrimatory practices then its good news but half a million quid is a lot of soup kitchens?

In this day and age is a female bishop any more or less relevant than a male one?

It was a historic moment, worth the cost. We can't throw away all or our pomp and ceremony, something we do incredibly well and which brings tourists flocking to places like Yorkminster, because of austerity.

Very British and even more so with an eccentric non violent dissenter.

What's more they had a pre-prepared legal statement to read out and shut him up with. That's even more British.

In America they would have lit him up with a Tazer!

God save the queen.

The guardian quotes the cost of having all those Bishes in the locale for three days and the party afterwards is a big cost. But it is God and they cannot skimp and save.........can they?
