Well Blackburn will be cheep. Some of Darwin is ok but i wouldn't generally choose that area as schools aren't the best and much of the area is in need of regeneration. Somewhere like Chorley, Rossendale or Bacup would be generally better but in reality it depends what your main criteria are for a location to live in.

There are some good areas in Darwin but in general Blackburn is only a little bigger than Ponti. School league tables will help but visit them if you can. Personally i like Chorley one way as its close to the motorway but that's me. The rightmove website may get you more info on houses and areas.

I would have thought that Blackburn, like most towns, has some nice areas to live in.

Most towns have areas you would avoid but can fall back on some nicer spots...

Ignore me hon, I was only jesting with you. I'm sure Blackburn has some redeeming locations. Personally, I'd get my arse over there for a fact finding drive around, maybe stop and ask a few people.

* nods *

When we lived in Chester we went to Blackburn to buy my car, and the area we ended up in was very leafy and lovely houses.

Obviously not all areas are like that but that goes for everywhere.

Good luck with your hunting

To be frank Blackburn does have some racial tensions in certain areas. Not that other places don't but it has no go areas that you wouldn't want to be relocating near.

You could try Google Maps and then Street View to get an idea of what a particular area is like.
