Okay, so been saving up to by my first proper flashy car this year. Now, i have three in mind but not sure which to go for.

I'd much rather drive a car that not many have. And the car has to be rather big. I can't do small cars.

So, these are my three.

Chrysler 300c

Porsche Cayenne

Range Rover Vogue

...anybody driven/own either of these vehicles. Any words of advice or 'you do not want to do that mate!'?

I drive american and wouldn't change. They're always reliable. Had many over the years and my present I've had for ten years and it's barely missed a beat. I would pick the 300 from that bunch mainly because of the exterior looks and engine. Interior is a bit plastic for me though. Be best for economy and cheapest for parts too Id reckon. Don't know anything about porches but generally not a fan of german cars since pre 96 mercs - that said D has a beetle which is decent. Rangerovers I've had and didn't really like. Lollopy handling and cylinder head issues are common on V8s, as are air suspension system failure. That's my view!

Definitely nkt the porsche, it is a bit cheshire wives... then it is a tough decision between 300 and RR.....Personally the RR would just edge it, as i think it has a slightly more luxurious feel...

You find some you like, test drive them until you find what you want and then pay for it and take it away.

Hope that helps.

Obvs go for the Hemi engine!

Not as good mileage (still better than a RR though) but massive on the grin factor of the burble.

If you're looking at something of that ilk and styling, personally, I think the Dodge Challenger is nicer. Classic muscle car looks and stance.

Not thought of a jag or merc? The interior of the 300 is very plasticy - even the leather feels faux leather. Whilst the economy is great for a big car and it's quiet, you could get a decent jag/merc for an equivalent price but the build would be vastly superior ?

I personally would choose the 300. The problem is it looks to much like a Bentley, I have heard comments like "Yeh he can't afford a proper Bentley so he drives a 300" I personally could not live with that even though it's a brilliant car. I know I Owned one last year. I stick to German cars now for reliability. That my view anyway. It's your money you choose. Good luck and what ever you choose, enjoy it

Not in my part of town. It's all Zafiras and Addison Lee's over here

Well, the 300c is looking to be the most sensible one. It's just i like to be sat quite high so i can see everything (yes, i know. Don't even think about talking about talking my legs).

Currently driving a Merc. Proper dogging vehicle too lol and the seats are quite raised. So, hmmm

Are these supercharging stations numerous or do you need to plan your journeys around their locations? (I've never seen one).

My car will easily do over 100 miles on just £10 of fuel which takes less than 5 mins to put in.

Also the batteries in the Tesla (and all electric cars) require changing every so many years at a cost of several thousand pounds and the mining of the lithium in them creates more pollution than an average car makes in its lifetime.

Electric cars are a wonderful idea, sadly the technology is massively flawed.

Hydrogen fuel cells should be what we're looking towards.

"Okay, so been saving up to by my first proper flashy car this year.

Any words of advice or 'you do not want to do that mate!'?

.Don't take this the wrong way but.

If you had to save up you can't afford the running costs of the Porsche, their astronomical.

The range is a great car but there also very expensive to run and lose money like the proverbial house brick.

The Chrysler uurgh dog ugly.

But a decent Audi and forget about the posing

Popeye can't buy an Audi, he's a decent bloke....

Decent blokes don't drive Audi's!

.

There decent cars but I'll admit they've attracted the BMW m3 brigade

They were decent cars but recently they've dropped the ball...

And they're driven by Muppets most of the time....

So what is a decent Audi in your opinion and what is wrong with current models?

The current models with a few exceptions are just dull.

I do like the R8 V10 though.

Granted they don't make many exciting cars, not many manufactures do nowadays but they do have some rather nice engines and invented the performance estate."

Don't they borrow the engines from Lamborghini (because they own them)?

Didn't the British invent the sports estate with some of the Jaguar shooting brake model's..

"Still waiting for OP to say whether he wants petrol or diesel? Is it for doing any kind of mileage or just posing about town?

It's just for driving around. I rarely do very long journey. But, when i do, i do lol

In terms of petrol or diesel, depends on the car really. Contemplating a diesel.

If your in London have you thought about a Tesla? Very cool car with free charging at their centres

Great until you want to escape from London. Drive a few miles, batteries die so you have to charge them for 12hrs!!

Electric cars are bloody useless...

12 hrs? A Tesla is 80% charged in 40 mins and fully charged in 75mins at one of their FREE supercharging stations.

I wouldn't call that useless

Are these supercharging stations numerous or do you need to plan your journeys around their locations? (I've never seen one).

My car will easily do over 100 miles on just £10 of fuel which takes less than 5 mins to put in.

Also the batteries in the Tesla (and all electric cars) require changing every so many years at a cost of several thousand pounds and the mining of the lithium in them creates more pollution than an average car makes in its lifetime.

Electric cars are a wonderful idea, sadly the technology is massively flawed.

Hydrogen fuel cells should be what we're looking towards."

.

Hydrogen fuel cells have problems of there own.

I'm afraid we're stuck with fossil fuel and being as energy efficient as possible.

"I think the A8 has always been nice the A6? The two door coupe is nice...

But if we're taking about buying one of those three cars newish, well for that money you could get t5 California and that would be my choice, roomy, fuel efficient, nice drive, weekends away, hold there money really well.

The two door coupe? Well that's precise. Is that A5, TT or R8? Or don't you know what you're talking about? Again "

.

I think your rude enough to buy a bmw never mind an Audi

And gave Michelle Mouton the opportunity to drive a top class rally car. Did she actually become world champion?

It's a bugger when you have to invent all wheel drive, anti lock brakes and such in oder for a woman to have a drive, ain't it?

UK is predictably slow in rolling out the supercharging stations, you do have to know where they are. Scandinavia is streets ahead of the UK and Tesla's are very popular over there. Charged off a British domestic supply, Apparently Tesla’s well-to-wheels carbon contribution will be at least 84.7g/km so still massively better than equivalent petrol.

It would have been rude of me to make fun of your misspelling but I didn't. Does that rule me out of Audi or BMW ownership?

Hi OP

I'm quite surprised that no one has pointed out the third way...

Depending on how big your budget is the sky is the limit...

Why not buy yourself a small economical budget car as an everyday run-around and then spend the rest of your budget on a real classic that will be a real head turner and be cheap to insure and tax while you stand out from the crowd?

Suggestions that jump into my head are Mk 2 Jag, rover P4 or P5, any Bristol, Alvis or Sunbeam.
