The coming of the Third Reich by RJ Evans. took me months but it is actually 3 books in 1

The Rats by James Herbert i did in a day cos i was hooked big time

I'm not one for putting books down.

My usual speed would equate to about an afternoon to read a standard novel.

Going on holiday at the end of the month, and currently have 6 books ready for lazing by the pool and filling the flights.

i tend to read several books simultaneously, often up to 5 together. perhaps its because i'm attracted to kaleidoscopic story lines, and like to merge imaginations. my swinging life style is analogous but my great favourite has to be "Chambers 20th Century Dictionary" ... great book, but they keep changing the plot

Anything by Lee Child, David Baldacci or James Patterson usually a couple of days, as once I've started I can't put them down.

That said, started First Family by David Baldacci a month ago and still on pay 37. Picked it up yesterday and couldn't remember what it was about, so started again...then stopped to watch Coach Trip! Just can't get into it!!

I've been trying to read a Dean Koonz book for about three plus years now. It should grip me, I want to know how it developes, just can't be arsed!!

Shortest - "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston, fucking terrifying book about filoviruses like Marburg and Ebola, and how lucky we've been so far. Read it from cover to cover on a flight to LA.

Longest - "Mein Kampf" by Adolf Hitler. It's like reading treacle. 5 years, and still nowhere near the middle, let alone the end.

Or, maybe "The First Crusade" by Thomas Asbridge. I had no problems reading it at home, but started it on the beach at Cap D'agde. I'd read a few lines, then have to put it down whilst some filth developed right there in front of me. All day long this would go on, utter depravity, I read about a page a day (and poked loads of holes in the sand, whilst getting a really tanned back)
