I know smoking is disgusting and i'd like to stop. But these adverts they're running are really vile.

They don't seem to make me want to quit any more though!

What do my fellow smokers think?

Yes, the one where they talk about smoking rotting your insides. But I think i've seen another one too.

They make me want to have a fag to be contrary. Although I haven't had one in weeks since I started vaping. I am putting the money I save aside; that's what made me stop the cigarettes.

I need to stop for that reason too. Plus health is an extra benefit! I may get myself an e-cig.

I don't think the ads make me want one just to be contrary (although my nickname as a child was little miss contrary) but just any mention of cigarettes brings on an instant craving.

They don't do anything for me either, I'll die from something even if it's old age, I'm going to do whatever I like until I get there

Never seen them, although they have a terrible habit of sticking horrible pictures on my cigar box.

Do they stick horrible pictures of car accidents on car showroom windows! Or pictures of broken twisted limbs on skiing holiday brochure's

.

Id quit.

But I couldn't stand turning into a life long hypocrite, with a smug sanctimonious attitude to other people's life styles.

Do you think that's what happens to priests!

Good that you know you will quit but not sure when, where and how.

Simple therapy to apply is just to cut down the number of sticks you take in per day in each week. I mean gradual cut down and not buying a cheaper brand because you end up as a chimney lol

Spending quality time with a partner/friend or relation that smokes won't be of help as you need time to build your body resistance and then be a bit more disciplined.

Unfortunately i have not had any reason to smoke but have helped friends quit smoking with this little therapy...

Not really. In the simplistic sense, everything in life carries some level of risk. You don't see photos of liver cirrhosis on cans of lager etc. Photos of blocked arteries on fast food containers??

Thing is the people who smoke know the risk. I don't feel that graphic photos on packaging make much of a difference.

BOLDON COLLIERY

it's all down to the feel good factor - ie the people who design the illustrations are non smokers and it makes them feel superior by being able to hound us with more and more ideology,

I'm no mathematician but isn't 2/4th the same as half, but if you never smoked you probably wouldn't have started this thread

Ow my head hurts

"They make me want to have a fag to be contrary. Although I haven't had one in weeks since I started vaping. I am putting the money I save aside; that's what made me stop the cigarettes."

Plus you get much more interesting 'flavours' with vapes.

Currently enjoying Caramel Macchiato at the mo.

And it's much warmer doing it inside too!

So wish I could find one that stops the craving, I've tried 5 in the past, after 3 solid days on them I needed a fag more than b4, stress levels through the roof

Don't buy a cheap one. I did - still had the odd cig and it broke within weeks.

Just splashed £70 on a cracking set up at a bespoke vape shop. Haven't had a cig craving since.

I'm going to smoke regardless of what adverts say and photos on fag packets. I'll quit when I want. if the advert was for drinking I dont imagine people would stop with the glasses of wine and pints of lager.
