Right, I'm now off outside to get myself a life... lol (Unless anyone wants to argue over whether the Subject should have a possessive apostrophe or not... Private Eye did that one to death a few years ago!)" You did manage to spell "fulfil" imcorrectly once within that post, you know. It only has one "l," not two...

I can see how one could make a case for either Pedant's or Pedants' - but struggling to see how Pedants makes sense... happy to be corrected though (grammatically, that is, not in a sub-dom way!)

" Pedants meaning plural of pedant. This is a place (corner) where one would find more than one pedant... as if! I'm just waiting for someone to misread the title and to make a Yewtree-stylee reference and then there'll be trouble (people with pitchforks outside my front door...)... that'd then stop me from going out to get a life

"'Pacific' or 'pacifically' instead of 'specific/ally' - guaranteed way to make me go full Hulk mode I 'brought' something instead of 'bought' ditto " I don't mind much, but Pacific/specific gets me. I think it's literally the only one. No, you don't have a Pacific problem unless you're in the bloody ocean and something is killing you, or alternatively you're drowning. Even then, it must be in the Pacific Ocean.

In fairness to the OP, they did describe thessences as being driven "irrationally" nuts. It is perfectly possible to dislike something while appreciating the good reason for it. As an example, I hate the Jeremy Kyle show but I can appreciate...... bugger, bad example

"I very much like reading the stories and fantasies section and sometimes the quality of the syntax and grammar is eye wateringly bad. Pretty much any sort of input device whether computer, tablet or phone has inbuilt spell checking. Why does it seem to be an optional extra for so many posts?" I am not the best, neither am I a pedant, but even my auto-corrected spelling horrifies me at times. Maybe if those of us who know we are not Grade A's, should delete some of the wrongly placed words from our spell check dictionaries, so that an automated input doesn't happen. If that's even possible - I know my pc browser spell check can be modified, but unsure upon my mobile's dictionary. Anyone, don't want to be a pendant, so not hanging around any further.
