Interesting the passing of a politician who had a significant effect on the life of most people in the UK does not get a FAB mention. The death of a soap celebrity seems to galvanise sympathy.

Is it a sign of the FAB times?

I love RIP threads on fab. To me, there's nothing more heartfelt that leaving a message of condolence preceding by a picture of your cock.

I wasn't specifically referring to your good self. It's a surreal notion on here.

Shall we see the day where a book on condolence reads 'My thoughts are with you and your family'. PS here's a picture of my testicles.

I did smile at that.

Its not an RIP thread more one to provoke the debate on the real world. Seems its not going to run!

No. It's a sign that a lot of people (myself included) may not know much about Leon Brittan. In fact I've only ever heard of him in the context of the child sex abuse enquiry. I'm blaming my age.

Anne Kirkbride was a much loved actress who has been on my tv 3 times a week for many years.

A different politician and a different actor, and it could be completely different, you don't have to assume everyone is shallow and obsessed with celebrity.

It was the juxtaposition on the two events in society terms. Nothing more?

I think the likes of Coronation Street's Dierdre is much more respected and loved by more than that old got. She was honest about her frailties, such as her depression and not really being a lover of a celebrity life.

He, like Jimmy Saville, is someone that will never have the truth out whilst he was alive. He was tainted with corruption yet he received titles and earned a fortune from the public purse admfterwards. He came from an era where sleaze and the Conservatives saw them unelected in the political wilderness for many rears. It was an horrific period. I hope that no children were harmed, whilst he was presiding over child abuse claims that seemed to reach a dead end, without full public disclosure, and where the records mysteriously have disappeared.

I'm not a lover of celebrity culture, media or politics, but think Anne Kirkbride, unsure of her full name as I don't watch soaps, had a tragic early passing. Him, I feel easier now he's gone, though sad for family and friends.

Was certainly listed on the Elm Guest House guest list.....although it wasn't his handwriting. I don't suppose that is why the dossier disappeared from the Home Office.
