This is the problem, twofold! I am receeded uptop and I get embarassed about it! So how do I get my haircut? I thought of shaving it but I don't know what length! I have a problem as I have thick hair and really don't want to loose my locks! The irony of it is I shave below, but the head I different and my job is a proffresional. Help please!

Dear Scar

I weep for you !

If you could persuade your GP to prescribe "Fenestra" for you it may thicken your locks.

There really is not help, baldness is just somethimg you have to accept, either be at piece with it and keep your locks or get a grade one, there's your options

Or you could turn Jewish and wear a kipa

Take the hair you've shaven from below and pritt stick it onto your head. Hey presto, a new luxurious curly do!

I have the same issue....have a number three on top and two on the sides and back. Working in a professional environment doesn't mean you can't have your hair short.

Dealing with baldness is not a real issue and certain remarks about a great footballer donot help! I was after some advice.

Deal with it man. I've been receeded since I was god damn 16.

Do you know how hard it is to get laid when you're 16 but look about 35? How insecure and self-conscious that makes you?

Man up, deal with it and age gracefully ffs.

Keep an eye open for someone's haircut you like and ask them where they got it cut.

I have a good news for you and its in 2 fold;

Try Regaine, its good for restoring lost hair but unfortunately I have never used it.

Our footballer friends like Zidane and others really enjoyed theirs but only young Rooney was lucky enough to get it fixed by expensive surgery but to be honest i don't have the surgeon's contact but Rooney does.

Brace up for it's a sure sign of riches lol

Yup....this....as a bloke who's been thinning for years I say invest in.a decent set of clippers and get used to a buzz cut...nice 'n' easy

I did try the turning Jewish route but I couldn't be bothered saving up for that long to be honest

Have a chat with a professional hairdresser see what haircut suits you best. I started losing my hair quite young I now have it shaved quite short as long as it looks tidy its ok to be bald/balding, you have to deal with it really unless you can afford the expensive surgery (vain)

Hairdressers and barbers see this every day, a good one certainly won't poke fun at you for it and may be able to help you come to a decision about how best to wear you hair.

If you want to try the hair treatments then anything with aminexil/kopexil in it is supose to help. Aparently it softens the hair folical allowing hair to re grow. If it's true or not I have no idea. Me personally I didn't worry and just got on with it. A number 2 all over looks just as good as having hair.

I started going bald at 17 with a gradually enlarging monk's tonsure on the crown of my head. My only regret was not 'cutting' it really short early enough. A buzz cut or number 1 or 2 is a pretty decent look on a lot of blokes and it doesn't seem to put the ladies off either

I say get a Number 1 cut believe me it will take a bit of getting used to if you have always had long hair but once your friends/family/workmates see you and maybe a little bit of teasing it will all be forgotten about.

Oh and im speaking from experience,I have had long hair all my life and it was getting thinner and I was finding more and more in the plug hole after each shower etc,I took the plunge on Xmas eve and got it all shaved off.

To be honest at first I nearly cried lol,but now I'm glad I did it and it looks better now as opposed to the guy with long hair scraped back who is balding,I have since had some favorable comments from friends saying it has taken years off me.

At the end of the day I'm still the same person...just I have less hair now.

No matter what you decide to do OP good luck, but don't worry yourself sick over it there is more to worry in this life believe me.

I'd just have it cut very short and stop worrying hun. Women are far lest concerned about baldness/hairloss than men seem to be. Never did Bruce Willis any harm! Xx

Number 3 or 4 on to, number 2 on back and sides. Neat, your scalp is still kept a bit warm and it actually looks good.

Any transplant procedures always look obvious when viewed up close. A toupe is just out of the question, as for the hair treatments, to be honest you might as well rub five pound notes on your head then set them on fire. They don't work.

Don't use product in your hair either. The hairs cling together and more of your scalp becomes visible. I keep telling my brother this, but he still ends up looking like a balding Mark Lamarr.

If your receding from the front, in a widows peak style, don't be tempted to grow a longer fringe to compensate either. It looks obvious. Style the hair either upwards or backwards. Make a point of using the receding hairline in the style. Jack Nicholson has been like that for years. He does alright for himself.
