"I've noticed recently that when I'm served in a shop, the person serving often never makes eye contact. They look down, even give you your change without looking in your eyes. I think it's far nicer to catch someone's eye, even give a smile! I totally agree and when you've caught there eye give it them back "

"I always do, I can't stand weak willed people, and lack of eye contact - along with giggling after each sentence - is a sign of lacking confidence." This brings out the comforting side of me. I like to help people who are lacking in confidence to feel better about themselves.

"I often apologise for staring into a beautiful pair of eyes. I am sure it seems creepy to them, but I am a sucker for lovely eyes and if she maintains eye contact I just enjoy it to the point they can get uncomfortable. A simple apology and off I tootle, happy. " A retail worker did this to me once. He walked up very close to me, into my dance space, and said 'I'm sorry but you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen'. Turned round and walked away! Lol left me a little speechless (highly unusual). Sweet though...

"In everyday life yes eye contact does not bother me but in quite an insecure person so if its someone I like or fancy I get all flustered and find it hard to make eye contact " That coyness in it's self speaks wordless volumes.....a lack of eye contact and how the eyes don't contact says a lot....

"I'm ok with looking directly at a person's eyes but I tend to watch the mouth a lot. Sometimes I struggle to hear what people say and it helps me to understand them. I also think mouths are quite erotic to watch " Add it all up and the face as a whole speaks volumes...

"do you all make eye contact with everyone or just people you find attractive / someone who interests you ? if a nice lady gave me prolonged eye contact then I would be pleased by it but someone I didn't find attractive or another man then I wouldn't like that. If you are a woman would you welcome eye contact from a man you didn't find attractive ?" depends if he looked lecherous

"yeap,i don't trust a person that cant give eye contact" this.. if someone is genuinely shy that's fine but when they are shifty and avoiding making eye contact then that makes me a bit wary..

If you are a woman would you welcome eye contact from a man you didn't find attractive ?" depending on what we all class as 'attractive' which is quite subjective but with some people the eye contact can tell you more about them as a person than any of what some in society or the media infatuation with 'beauty and perfection' ever will..

"In my first job when I was 18 or so, one of the gaffers had eyes that looked in different directions. I never knew were I was supposed to stand in relation to her eyes, so sort of shuffled between spots. " My first ever interview, the interviewer had eyes like that. Somehow I still got the job. Bugsy - the guinea pig on the film Bedtime Stories has the best eyes ever!

"I guess I'm a very confident person. I have no qualms about making and keeping eye contact and I find it's a very good communicator, ESPECIALLY in retail. If you're on meet-and-greet, eye contact and friendly Hello to each customer speaks volumes - To most, it's an indication that you are there, are approachable and actually listening when they talk to you, and to shop-lifters, it's a clear indication of "I'm watching you". Eye-contact is the best way to close a deal and let people know that you are listening. I guess it also stems from growing up in London. I refused to be one of those people who walks along with their eyes glued to the floor. If somebody gets too close or looks dodgy, looking them in the eye usually gets them to back off or re-evaluate. - Amy. x" I'd agree with all of this; though I dont consider myself particularly confident I am perfectly comfortable with eye contact, and feel I am capable of where and when to use it.

"I've noticed recently that when I'm served in a shop, the person serving often never makes eye contact. They look down, even give you your change without looking in your eyes. I think it's far nicer to catch someone's eye, even give a smile! " Worked in retail 2005 to 2012. Always tried to give the best service possible and not just to establish myself. Most assistants aren't like that, but it can be a soul destroying job. No advancement, horrible customers, crap pay, crap hours, stupid cliques and politics = "shove your social values, I just work here." However there's a difference between that outlook and just being a terrible retail assistant. Only recently was I faced with one at TK Maxx; a very dapper lad with the nerd specs and trendy hair. Clearly moisturised too. He actually kept trying to avoid me, refused to take money from my hand until I put it on the counter, took half a minute to properly pick up my horrible icky change from out of the horrible icky cash register with his bare hands (which he hadn't even emptied out of the money bags, bless) and then wouldn't hand me it until I removed my hand so he could dump it in front of me. He said Merry Christmas, I said, 'good luck with that!' Haven't seen him since.

"In my first job when I was 18 or so, one of the gaffers had eyes that looked in different directions. I never knew were I was supposed to stand in relation to her eyes, so sort of shuffled between spots. " My best friends ex had this. Problem being that me and my best friend have the same name so you could never tell who he was speaking to.... Half the time I joined in conversations that were nothing to do with me and the rest of the time I completely ignored him when he was talking to me

"I have Aspergers traits and one of these is finding eye contact so intense in certain situations that it's overwhelming." I work with people with autism and this is quite common, I've also been told that in some cultures looking directly at your "elders and betters" is a sign of disrespect.

I love eye contact when having passionate sex " if we can keep eyes open when we come together its fkn special - talk about reaching in deep - love it but tend to close my eyes in the moment Sx
