Courtesy of the 'brains' that brought us splash... We get to see 'celebrities' try and cycle on ice, the one with the most teeth left wins

Don't be meanies!!

I know what you mean op! Ice and snow is great for skating, sledging and playing - but bloody hard to get around on day-to-day!!

My car did a lovely pirhouette on the road today when I backed out of the drive - marred only by the sound of the kids screaming!!

You need to change your name sthlpoolbicyclist to sthPOLEbicyclist

Be careful out there if on 2 wheels sideways slip could put you under 4 wheels

Gotta love local authorities that have decided to cut costs by not gritting the roads and not repairing potholes. Dangerous for everyone.

Ive noticed over the las couple of winters, at least in Essex, that the grit they put down has far less salt in it and far more crushed flint? In a car you wont notice the difference but on a bike the amount of winter punctures has gone through the roof with tiny shards of glass like flint causing the flats

Driving on ice is bad enough. Cycling or motorcycling on ice? No thanks!

.

I'm not a big believer in gritting roads, it's terrible for the environment.

You can buy snow/ice tyres for bicycles as well as cars. But easier still a set of snow chains for your car takes about 15 mins to install.

Grit should only be used for severe frosts.

Years ago I went around a corner and hit some black ice.

Hit the ground hard looked up and a lorry was almost on top of me but he was also going around the corner slow so I lucked out was bloody scarey

Did 70 miles sat and had one near miss on some black ice .

Did the sensible thing yesterday and went for a 20 mile run instead

1 bad tumble, broken ribs and gravel rash put me off till the end of time. The merest hint of ice and I'll stay indoors on the turbo or spinning

Can be very painful.

Worst I have had was when it rained on freezing ground. Road was like glass.

Would of said ice, but thats a bit obvious

Hmm, if I go sideways on the way to or from work, on these lovely fresh mornings, I end up in the canal - assuming the ice on top of it isnt too thick.

It teaches you to ride smoothly, had the pleasure of it this morning. Someone told me fixed wheel is best to ride in slippery conditions.

It gets fun riding on ice, best moment was bringing my R6 back from Warrington industrial estate to Prescot on ice. It taught me a lot about my riding, as you have to be smooth. It also taught me to look at the weather forecast in future, and get a lift into work.
