Surf n Turf

Sometimes we grow older and then one day we suddenly ask a dumb ass question ......

Today I'd like to ask "So what exactly is "Surf n Turf?"

I've spent far too many years seeing it on a menu, but not bothering to check out what exactly it is.

To me, it sounds like I'm gonna get a plateful of Dolphin and Horse Meat.

In weatherspoons it consists of a piece of steak you could sole your boots with and some scampi from Iceland

The usual surf n turf I know, is scampi & steak however the more die-hard traditionalists in the foodie world prefer the scallops & black pudding variation as do i

I know how those prawns feel - the amount of times I've been battered by beer

I've got to nearly 50 without not knowing certain things so I certainly don't know what's wrong not knowing this.

Its fish and meat togdther, depending on where you eat it is scampi and steak, lobster and steak or prawns, scallops and something. I've never actually ordered it

"how have you got to 48 and not know this?? lol"

I know, I know.....

but when the company is paying I have to choose between rump, sirloin or mixed grill; and when I'm paying, I have to choose between plate of chips or beer n burger.

It's just that I've recently been a bit more adventurous with the menu. I now enjoy salmon, green Thai curry and even a glass of pinot what-cha-ma-call.it.

Surf n Turf always passed by me. And my horror thoughts of beer battered cod, onion gravy, roast yorkshire puds, jacket potatoes with lashings of love, do nothing for me. Even if it IS Icelands very most wonderfully best prawns.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

There are whole chains just doing surf and turf now.

It's rare to find excellent surf and turf but when you do it's good. Lobster and steak is the best combination as both are meaty.

So surf n turf means lying across a piano whilst being force fed liqueur chocolates?

.

Diamond, you MUST say hello......

Perhaps I could become to enjoy surf n turf.

It's the bit when chains become involved that worries me? Handcuffs too?
