So... I had my fwb over last night and at some point in the evening I came onto fab... Bear in mind he is still sat next to me. And I look to see who is online on my friends list.... And whose name pops up? Yep my fwb....... Best of it was he wasn't even on the Internet!!!!! Let alone on fab. And he was online for 15mins.

Has anyone else had this or can anyone shed some light as to why this happens???

Yes it happens.

I often get complain-y messages because I've not responded to a message and they know I've been online because they've seen me

Sometimes it's because I leave my phone or PC logged in but at other times it's inexplicable.

Yup.

I sign out and I'm told I'm online. Yet I'm not.

Weird.

This has pens on other sites too.

It's about generating traffic across the server.

A certain well know Fishing site will show you online if you get sent a message, an event notification, a "meet me", etc.

The more users "online" the better they look

I leave Fab logged on on my tablet. I have found that if I go onto another website if I'm looking up some information then Fab also presents me as here again. The times always corresponds with a couple of fancy a meet now messages.

Now I understand why one guy was getting really hissy with me , kept saying I was online. But I wasn't and none neve believed me...."......... He got blocked...

There is a five minute delay from when you log out of your pc before you're down as offline. After three minutes, your profile will say you're offline but the system's browser will keep you on the "online now" list until the five minutes are up.

Mobiles are different. You can be online constantly because your phone is running the site in the background which means you're using your phone but not the site. Logging out usually solves this and then the normal pc rule should apply.

That's just what I've noticed.
