What affectations do you have and/or those that have become normal for you?

I'm sure my sister and I started using "awfully" in sentences as a jokey affectation but now we just use it.

My accent varies depending on who I talk to... not dramatically, but enough. I use it as a tactic to create association, especially if I seek their co-operation.

Except I restrict myself to a North /south variation, with a occasional Plum thrown in for business meetings.

However Irish/Scots and Welsh are off limits as that is patronising mimicry.

Yup I do this, though I don't always intend to, it just happens.

Iam also told I have a distinct 'phone' voice when doing anything official too.

I do pick up accents easily but get me when tired and Im a brummy influenced girl who can just about hold it together.

Not a snob though sometimes seen as Lady Posh.

If I catch myself I reign it in.

My accent and the type of language I used definitely change slightly depending who i'm with/talking to. Can't help it! Although if I spend too long with a particular friend my mother says I sound like "an Essex girl trying to sound posh".
