MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Went for a surprise, although I had a really strong instinct that he was a boy.

I waited until they were born but a friend of mine found out the sex, I asked her if she didn't want to wait and be surprised her reply was "it is a surprise I just found out earlier than you did" which when you think about it is true. I would still much rather wait until the baby is born though

Went for the surprise, was glad it was a girl as if she'd been a boy she probably still wouldn't have a name!

Mrs JFL's two girls were both surprises too.

I waited to find out. Wasn't bothered about the gender, not even after having 3 boys. But when i came round from my c-section and saw my ex holding our daughter and asked what we'd had and he said girl i was happy to finally have a daughter. Although another boy would have been just as loved.

They don't need me any more. Just waiting for some grandkids to pop out now.

at 33 weeks apparently it was too late to accurately sex a child,, but apparently she was in a position where she was flashing her 'hamburger' to the world so i was told it was a girl.. but still to be cautious

With our first the health authority's policy at the time was you wasn't allowed to know.

With our second the person doing a scam gave it away without actually telling us.

At the time I was preggars you were not allowed to be told (almost 28 years ago) but kept having a recurring dream that I had a boy. I did indeed have a boy

My heart goes out to you

With 3 of ours, it was NHS trust policy not to tell so they were surprises (2 boys & a girl) but we found out with youngest (another girl).

I paid privately to have the full range of tests and a 3D scan and wanted to find out the sex. He had his name at 24 weeks and I knew which day he would born as I had an elective c section. It was still overwhelming and a wonderful surprise when I held him for the first time.

With our oldest two it wasn't an option but found out with the younger two..... (wanted surprises but health issues and the risk of losing them)I really wanted to know. But instinct told me they were all boys and I was spot on with all of them.

I found out about my twins at 16 weeks I think it was.

I couldn't not know. I think it's still a massive surprise when your baby is born because you never know what they are going to look like. I was convinced I'd have two blond babies and one had black hair and the other was a red head. Yep, surprising!

And with twins, I didn't want to think of two lots of boys names AND two lots of girls names.

With my first child 24 years ago I didn't know until she was born.

My second child which was a boy I found out at 24 weeks.

My third child also a boy was lying funny so I couldn't find out. It was my last scan on the NHS so I paid privately to find out the sex and was over the moon to find out I was to have another son

My wife found out on the scan both times but I didn't want to know!. There's very few surprises left in the world and I wanted them to remain that way... Although the other half tried to torment me for 4 months with the answer!.

They were quite happy to tell my wife on the scan but in conversation I did find out that they used to tell people all sorts all, if your both o negative blood the child would be or if your both blue eyed the child would be.

But due to an amount that didn't they stopped saying as they got sued lol.

I went to see a psychic on the 6th February 2009, wasn't going to go because my car was snowed in but my friend turned up in her fathers 4x4 cos she was supposed to have a reading as well. The woman doing my reading kept saying to me that I was giving her heartburn and told me I was pregnant with a girl that would be born with a full head of dark hair! I did know I was pregnant but I'd literally done the test 2 days before and was only about 6 weeks so definitely not showing. Scan said it was a girl and when she came out she did have a full head of dark hair!

bradford and halifax refuse to tell you the sex of your unborn child

so we went to huddersfield to get a check on the sex of the child

as long as the child is fine i couldnt care less what sex the child was but i wanted to know so we get what was needed for when the child was born

she had blue eyes but lost them at a year old to my brown eyes

the mother had both a boy and a girl at seperate births

my best time was finding out that she pregnant

most Caucasian baby's are born with blue eyes.

Depends on how much melanin (skin colour) you have that makes them go darker. There near enough born with full size eyes as well.

But no knee caps(that just feels weird)

When my son was born he had his eyes open and looked like a doll he was covered in hair but it was fine so more like down and he had smooth skin. Apparently if he had been born a couple of weeks later he would of been all wrinkly. The baby in the next incubated was dark and looked just like a monkey took about 7 weeks for the hair to go

With regards to eye colour I always thought that brown eyes was the dominant colour and if one of the parents had brown eyes then the baby would too? My ex has really dark brown eyes but I have bluey green eyes, my daughter has the exact same eyes as me so how come they didn't go brown?

Where's dark edges she's got the same eyes as me!

My sister has dark brown eyes and her daughters both have their dad's bright blue eyes. I have very blue eyes and both of my children have dark brown eyes like their dad.

.There's a dominant gene but not a dominant colour, if brown dominated... We'd all be brown eyed I reckon

Nope. There are dominant allele's to all genes and you have 2 allele's for each. The combination of these determine eye colour in this case. Let's say dominant brown eyes allele's are B and non dominant (can't think of the biological term...surely it's not submissive lol) is b, you can have one of 4 possible combinations;

BB = brown eyes

Bb = brown eyes

bB = brown eyes

bb = blue eyes

Depending on the genes your parents have will determine your eye colour and doesn't guarantee if you have both parents with brown eyes you will have them too as you take one allele from each parent so if you have bB and Bb parents you could have blue or brown eyes.

Phew something from my biology degree stuck lol my dad will be happy!
