I tend to peruse the headlines when I get online, keep up to date with the news and weather, but something I've read today makes me think I should live in blissful ignorance... brace yaselves!!

The latest thing they now say they have proved will give you cancer is.... BREATHING!

Yes, that pesky oxygen in the air is carcinogenic!

I kid you not folks... and the only way to combat it is to live at altitude, cos the higher you get, the less oxygen there is in the air.... as I type this I'm casting about in my memory for where my crampons and ice axes are... race ya to the top of Everest!

Scientifically totally true. Oxygen is a toxin...in the same chemical group as sulphur and selenium.

However we have friends living inside our cells. Mitochondria....basically a type of bacteria inside every single. Cell in our body. Each with their own DNA.

These little beauties respire the oxygen and provide our cells with energy. ALL animals have them!

It also explains why a Mediterranean diet....high in ANTIOXIDANTS leads to longer life and a lower incidence of cancer!

Would Foel Cwm Cerwyn be high enough . . I really can't be doing with Everest. .I'd miss Wales xxx

MAY lead to a longer life. I had a friend who went there for two weeks, got food poisoning and din't return.
