If you've promised not to, then the physical act of having sex with someone out of you're main relationship is breaking that promise and therefore cheating. I can separate love and lust but if i had a partner who couldn't then i'd have to accept that and not cheat as he would describe it." This is also the reason why some people fall in love with those they are fucking and it goes wrong. They haven't separated lust from being in love, yet the other person has with them. Tbf though lust does feel a lot like being in love, and it's a good feeling so long as you don't get carried away with it. | |||

Infatuation is a third state - which is full of lust and feels quite like being in love but is not really based in reality, or does not have real depth. I do actually love a lot of people, i'm very open and enjoy letting myself be emotionally vulnerable so that people can trust me, but have realised i'm not in love with anyone.
