The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing of.

Blaise Pascal

Lust has its reasons of which reason knows nothing of then...

Can people separate love from lust ?

and if so, the question of cheating/faithfully doesn't apply, does it ?

Yes lust is easily separated from love.

Cheating or being unfaithful does still apply. If you've promised not to, then the physical act of having sex with someone out of you're main relationship is breaking that promise and therefore cheating.

As Tina would say, 'What's love got to do with it'.

Yes, love and sex are completely different things -they can even go in different directions!

For example, I fall in love with women, but enjoy sex with men...

I can have sex with somebody that I love...

But I would never love anybody off Fab that I just had sex with - friends maybe, but not love!

Love is something very private, very special, and a most beautiful gift when it walks into your life.

Sex is a pleasant exercise that I can do with a Fab member, or with my vibrator, or whatever...

Both (or all people) involved have to separate it. Otherwise it is cheating.

Just my opinion anyway.

I can separate love and lust but if i had a partner who couldn't then i'd have to accept that and not cheat as he would describe it.

This is also the reason why some people fall in love with those they are fucking and it goes wrong. They haven't separated lust from being in love, yet the other person has with them.

Tbf though lust does feel a lot like being in love, and it's a good feeling so long as you don't get carried away with it.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I have never been in love so cannot comment too much, other than they are very separate things.

I think I've been in lust...

I have had relationships based on respect and caring for someone, but not the heady love thing that my friends have described.

I think love is different for everyone.

"What is lust ?? Is it just the want to be intermate with another ??"

Yea, to lust is just to desire someone - it can be separate from love or very much part of it.

Infatuation is a third state - which is full of lust and feels quite like being in love but is not really based in reality, or does not have real depth.

I can do all three - separately or even all at once, lol!!

This is actually really intriguing

I can actually see how people confuse the two now you explain it .

I get the infatuation stage a lot.

I do actually love a lot of people, i'm very open and enjoy letting myself be emotionally vulnerable so that people can trust me, but have realised i'm not in love with anyone. Don't really feel any need to be in love either, i'm not naturally romantic.

Cheating is about betraying trust. It has nothing to do with love or lust.

Sounds like someone married is trying to justify an affair.

Everything is about sex...

Except sex - sex is about power....

The only way to remove temptation is to yield to it....
