Fabville !!!

Warning!!! Just read about a young bloke who died after drinking 4 energy drinks per day.

Personally I think they should be banned . The caffeine content is bad and the sugar content is just unbelievable. A killer for sure ...

What story? Maybe the lad had a pre-existing condition that made him sensitive to caffeine, has a pathologist stated that it was the drink to blame?

Need a bit more to go on

As tragic as it is that this young man has lost his life as a result of drinking energy drinks. Banning them is a knee jerk and needless reaction.

If we banned everything that could potentially kill a person........................

I think people are quick to jump to conclusions. Each person would biologically be different. Having prolonged exposure to caffeen content in these drink will obviously not be doing you any good. However to suggest they can cause death is jumping to conclusions. I have drank excessively these drinks for years . Some points I drank 8 cans! Granted I did not feel well after but I take care of myself and fitness. Still going strong and have since cut down and will be stopping them soon.

what a stupid post, ffs, banning energy drinks is like banning wine because a few people drink ten bottles a day and will die.

Working at wakestock a few years back and it was sponsored by relentless so the stuff was just being given away...I had 12 cans in a day....never again, I went to bed on a massive crash and spent the night shaking like a constipated dog! Put me off energy drinks for life....

Teach me to be a clever dick and drink so many....

Took two massive scoops of caffeine powder and mixed into a protein shake once by accident. 12 cans would be something similar in caffeine terms. Was a truly hideous experience

I agree they're terrible for you, but I don't think banning them is the answer. Perhaps medical warnings on the packaging like you see on cigarettes?

Worst thing was the other week I saw a young Mum letting her kid of about 6 or 7 have one. I've only just picked my jaw up from the floor.

On top if that drink too many, and it can lower your sperm count.

Occasional use, they're not so bad. But they'll still rot your teeth clean out. Same as other fizzy drinks. I watched a program the other week, they raise your blood pressure and heart rate in minutes too. The study essentially concluded that 2 cans was a performance increase, any more or less made you perform worse, and that drinking 2 daily will ruin you in the long run. Plus you get that enormous crash when it wears off. For me the risks outweigh the benefits, and I generally eat clean so 99% of the time they're way off my radar.

I never drink the sugary ones. But caffeine is a wonderful drug, and I use it in large quantities for performance boosting

Things shouldn't be banned because people aren't sensible about what they put in their body.

Had a can of Red Bull once, had no effect on me at all, went into a pound shop and got 4 cheap brand ones for a quid, drank one and was instantly buzzing, think it was called Devil and definitely made me feel like a horny one

I was sat in a chair unable to get my hands to work enough to call someone to help. I had to suffer until I crashed out into a feverish sleep. Awful. Now keep my powders in separate cupboards lol

I'm epileptic and accordingly shouldn't drink energy drinks, or coffee for that matter. When I worked in the pub industry I was regularly consuming 4 cans of Relentless daily and 5-6 strong coffees on top of that (and by strong, I mean 5 shot espresso strong). Apart from feeling like I was on a permanent come-down, which usually resulted in drinking more, vicious circle, it didn't do me any harm.

Now I eat clean and am in a more stable job, so don't touch energy drinks at all, but still abuse coffee, especially on heavy training days.

All the people I have worked with who drink the stuff seem to spend the day shuffling around, hardly zipping.

Which leads me to wonder if, without the stuff, they would be comatose?.
