What's the oldest electrical item you have in the house that's still getting used daily?

Our is the kettle, almost 18 years old now.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Not very old, but my TV is 5 years old as I'd to buy new when I left my husband as I wasn't allowed much from our house when me and my son had to move out.

Oh, my slow cooker is also 5 years old as it was one of my first purchases.

I fit alarms and cctv ....I only research part time .....and I'm amazed the amount of times I go out to alarms that are over 20 odd years old and have stopped working ,tell the customer they need a new one and they complain !!!! Till I point out it is the oldest electrical object in there hours by a good ten years ....

Up until a couple of years ago it would have been a Sansui Tuner Amplifier which ma dad bought sometime in the early 70's. It still worked but I wanted something a bit more powerful.

Although it's not used everyday, the oldest thing I have now is a Bosch hammer drill which I bought in 1984

I have a 20 year old miele washing machine(I bought it second hand 15 years ago) which I've repaired and rebuilt a few times!.

And a swan kettle that my wife's mother gave us 20 years ago, how long she had it for is anyone guess, but it still keeps going!

Mine is a fridge, bought secondhand from the army in 1967 !! It's never needed any repairs..I think the lightbulb has been replaced half a dozen times thats all..The enamel on top of the door is worn off but apart from that its fine..saying this it will probably go bang tomorrow lmao

And a 12 year old kettle thats started leaking this am. I hope the replacements last a fraction of those times..

Jools has one of those old 80's style white vibrators must be 20 years old and still as good as new.

Granted it's a bit noisy but has outlasted all her other toys.

I've a clock in my living room I got as a wedding prez, will be 26 this year...my washing machine is 15 and a couple of years ago I gave my old standard lamp to a friend who revamped it and still uses it - that was my parents wedding prez so is def over 50 years old

I have a NAD amp that's still going strong hooked up to some 80's Mission speakers. I also have a 1930's wireless that would still work if I were brave enough to add a modern plug but I use it as a coffee table.

Coool - BBC Home Service style radio? My CA's used to blast out on my Mordaunt-Short MS10s that would be about 20 years old now but sadly they pegged it a couple of years ago. It's amazing how HiFi equipment stands the test of time whereas other tech is almost disposable!

Wharfdale Diamond Speakers I bought in the 80's. Still sound amazing after all these years and survived the vinyl and CD era and still going strong. My B&W Zeppelin unfortunately is not due to my boys d*unken party's. Fortunately a HiFi has more than one On button so they don't know how to use it, phew.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I thought my deep freezer had died this year after 40 years of service. After I scrapped it, I found a blown fuse in the extension lead which I used to power it. The extension lead had been borrowed for another appliance which is a known fuse blower thanks to it`s high power consumption. So, in all probability, the welder had blown the fuse and the freezer was still working but considering the general condition of the rest of it, it was as well to bin it!

I do have a hitachi twin cassette with high speed dubbing and 3d subwoofer which I bought in 1990, not used everyday but still in perfect working order.
