6 nations predictions

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

The start of the 6 nations is a little over 3 weeks away, I have tickets for the first game Wales v England on Friday 6th of February and I am very excited.

Even though I'm half Italian I'm afraid they only get my support when they aren't playing wales!

Predictions (what I'd like)

Wales

Ireland

Scotland

Italy

France

England

What I think it will be

Ireland

England

Wales

France

Scotland

Italy

Wish I had tickets , Italy will get the wooden spoon closely followed by Scotland , I think it will be close between England, Ireland and Wales , which leaves the French mid table

Think it will be so close to call that any of the top four could win. The autumn internationals showed that there isn't a lot to chose. As an Englishmen, I hope the recent narrow losses to the likes of New Zealand and South Africa, with injury hit teams, heralds the start of a new strong era

Wales are strong, but I personally think England will win the Grand Slam.

Oh i'm going to be in Cardiff too for Wales v England

Should be a cracking game.

Also planning to go see Ireland v England on the 1st March.

Nice to see some ladies loving the sport and not just the men in shorts lol

This is what makes me laugh about Scotland and Wales. They care more about beating England than where they finish.

I know it's sacrilege but I think Iremand play better without BOD.

I also think English fans are generous about wanting other teams to do well.

I support two teams

1. Ireland

2. Anyone playing England

Scotland revival is on track To borrow some of the lyrics from the great Roy Williamson,

But we can aye rise nou,

An be the naition again,

That stuid agin him

Will not win the 6N, but on recent form should manage a third or fourth place position.

Ireland, by far, are the strongest team in the northern hemisphere at the moment.

Wales - have the player power, but I have to feel that a lot of their game play is becoming tired.

Italy - in a dip at the moment, but the beauty of the 6N is you never know what they pull out of the bag on the day.

France - regrouping, and will I am sure be their usual self come the start of the tournament

England - you have to admire the depth of quality player that is coming out of the clubs. I wonder if this sometimes creates a problem of selection. 15 great players, but don't quite gel as a single unit.

Ireland

England

Wales/Scotland

Scotland/Wales

France

Italy

I questioned a Welsh guy, who was (and, I daresay, still is) vehemently anti English why that was so, given many English (myself included) had no strong feelings about the Celts. Seems it's to do with conquering their countries hundreds of years back! Personally not anything to do with modern English men and women, so such enmity is misplaced and ridiculous - if not xenophobic. Surely?

It's sensitive, many English people take the piss about how not every welsh person can speak the welsh language, I'm lucky I went to a welsh nursery, infants, juniors and secondary school so I'm fluent and so is my daughter but, the reason not everyone can speak welsh is because years and years and years ago when every Celt in Wales only spoke welsh king Edward thought it was witchcraft and forbid it, the prince of Wales Llewelyn ap Gwynedd (the last) rebelled against king Edward fought his soldiers, burnt his castles but while Llewelyn was away regrouping his army and down to around 3000 men england attacked again, Wales were massively outnumbered and put down their weapons only to be slaughtered anyway. Llewelyn hears about it and rushes back but it was a trap and he gets his head chopped off and brought back to england for his head to be paraded around.

Alls fair in war and I suppose we don't really hold grudges dating back to the 12th century do we? But that's one of the reasons why Welsh never stayed as our first language, people were killed if they dared to speak it.

1974. The 5 nations championship (as it still was then) was shared; everyone came first and everyone came last. The beauty of rugby is that it's not entirely predictable
