Apocalypse Now

Just watching Apocalypse Now and I had forgotten just how powerful the opening sequence is- The Doors "The End" playing over the helicopter flying over jungle then the rotors morphing into the spinning fan in the hotel room

Coppola at his best!

Any thoughts?

One of my favourite films. ...especially powerful ......and not forgetting the crazy scenes such as surfing, waterskiing and the playboy bunnies in the middle of the war which mirror the insanity of the war.

The horror.....

.....and of course, Martin Sheen suffered a heart attack during the early filming which some say was brought on by Coppola' s uncompromising schedule.

Never knew it was on and been watching since the ride of the Valkyries? scene I was lucky enough to catch while channel surfing

I love apocalypse it's just a classic, Coppola's dark bleak crazed world of war is compelling.

I also love Kubrick's utter madness depiction of war through his films like full metal jacket

But my favourite is Oliver stone and platoon he hits the head with the brutal truth and savagery and pulls on the heart strings at the same time

Horsham

For its time it was the best war film out.

I can't believe How many set backs the film had, heart attacks and the army taking their helicopters back due to a coup.
