i read somewhere that sexuality is like a bell shaped curve and whilst some folks are at the ends, most are in the middle

Most places still are pretty represssed about gay, let alone bi!

I watched a programme some years ago that said the level of certain chemicals found in water would sooner than later make men more feminine and eventually change to female.

Especially men who ate more fish.

lmao

It was one of these "today" type programmes.

Get ya lippy on fellas

IIRC very high levels of Oestrogen from the female pill are turning much of nature female, never mind blokes.

the world is changing simple infact its for the better, no i am not saying everyone needs to be bi, I am just saying that people are more accepting of bi and gay people than they were 10,20,30 years ago

so i think that people are feeling more ok to try thier curious side as they are learning thier are alot of other curious people.

i think the numbers were alot similar, just nowadays we have the net on tap!!!!

think about it, without the internet you wouldnt realize this many people are actually bi? and alot! of the straight profiles are bi (not all just a fair few) but if everybody had a face picture on thier profile i am sure thier would be less people openly bi on the site

There is no simplistic explanation.

Some are born bi. Some become bi.

Those that become bi do so to varying degrees and for so many different reasons that I c.b.a to type it up.

Older than that as well: the term comes from Latin and before that it seems to have been quite common in a few cultures - Alexander the Great is generally agreed by historians to be bi, amongst the Spartans there was the culture of the Gymnasia where same-sex relations were encouraged as a way to bond, even though Spartan men were expected to marry (their culture placed great shame on not having children to follow you), in more modern times, James I and VI was definitely bisexual and as recently as the Victorian period we have OScar Wilde whom historians now believe was more bi than gay.

Mmmmm Anger issues? The Op was not suggesting that all bi-sexual people were just following fashion! As I read it, it is the amount of people who seem to be suddenly Bi that is in question!

Mrs R is not Bi, but is Bi-friendly. she is not Bi but will play with women if there is an attraction, if that makes her a fashionista, so be it! BUT she is not looking for it... I am not Bi, but I have not ruled out some lightweight Bi action in the heat of a tangle!

Little outbursts that are contrary to the spirit of the thread could be a sign of insecurity?

I've always been 'out' and openly bi in swinging circles but my vanilla friends know nothing about that side of my sexuality with the exception of my best pal. And that's exactly how I want it to remain.

"What really amazes me is some people still believe that bisexuals and gay actually choose ta be that way lol xx "

I may have to take issue with you there soapy as it was a conscientious decision on my part to see what it was like. I don't attribute it to always being bi but not doing anything about it. As a younger man I was staunchly heterosexual to the point where I'd advocate gays being taken out and shot. A blinkered view I know, but I was genuinely hetero and the thought of man-man contact repulsed me. As the years went by I found my inquisitiveness about it growing and it was cemeneted in my mind to try it when I realised that my partner at the time got really horny watching gay porn. So I gave it a go, decided I liked it and it's now something else I like to do sexually.

I really do rebel against the ideaology that gays/bis are born gay/bi - I believe it IS a conscious choice and then becomes a preference (gay/lesbian). Even now, a confirmed bisexual man, I cringe when I see men camping it up. I feel embarrassed to be of the same sex as them and see no reason for it - apart from to shock.

Wait till Sunday, you'll meet me then and realise that I am masculine in every sense of the word.

I hope I haven't pissed anyone off with what I've said above, but if I have, well, sorry, but that's the way I view sexuality.

Really subscribe to that - happy to play a bit as and when... a bit more when I feel like it... not driven by a need to perform for any men watching for bi-action between girls.

Yes, I like that stance... and it has nothing to do with fashion... just to do with being a true hedonist, enjoying what pleases... when one wants to...

Being roughly the same age as you i also went thou the repulsed stage but in my particular case that was because i was lead ta believe it wasnt normal ta feel as i did

As some of ya know in me twenties i actually took four separate overdoses cause i didn't want ta be the way i was

But as time went on i accepted it and don't mind admittin it to anyone

We are all different in some way and that's mine xx

It's bad that you felt so bad about your feelings that you had to go to such extreme measures. I've always looked at everything that happens to me as an experience, albeit good or bad. It enriches me, it gives me knowledge that I didn't possess before and I refuse to be beaten to the point that taking my own life is the only solution that I can see.

I may never play with another man for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't miss it, but I'd still regard myself as bisexual because I now know that if the right person and the opportunity presented itself, I would play, but it's not essential. It's not the only thing that makes me ME.

Although on occasions I have "played " with women, especially in clubs when the heat of the moment takes over , I would not class myself as Bi.

It does get me though when I see that a lot of women are being harangued into being bi by their partners. It's obvious that they aren't, but as we all know it's every man's dream to have two women at the same time.
