The rally won't do anything against the extremists but it's a show of defiance that we wont be beaten by them!!

The politicians have a good chance of doing something bit by bit... In my eyes the first thing is to stop calling it a "war against terrorism" that gIves the idiots carte Blanche in my opinion

I lived in Paris when I was 20 and even back then, there was a lot of anger towards the Algerians and Cameroons. I have a horrible feeling the extreme right wing will capitalise on the terrorist attacks in future elections.

I love France and feel very sad about what happened and what may happen

Hopefully it will boost morale in France and send a message out to these extremists that people of all colours/religions are united against them. I think It will make a huge difference

terrorism is such a huge problem nobody wants to live in fear and no easy answer but the rally may show we will not give in to them

Marine LePen is due to attend from what I have read in the French news and has been 'quiet' about the all thing. I suspect she will not be when things have 'calmed down'.

I do hope it is going to be a peaceful gathering.

If others feel better and safer for rallying, they're already encouraging others to be positive.

Real tragedy but terrorism can only be minimised. The number of deaths in society is numerically very low but it's about reducing the culture, improving cohesion and education.

Oui, you are right. Although there has been some debates on that.

'Je ne suis pas d’accord avec ce que vous dites, mais je me battrai pour que vous ayez le droit de le dire.'

Not at all. It's a famous Oscar Wilde take on the quote you said. Sorry if you took offence. None was meant.

I just hope some of the dodgy world leaders Thier now feel ashamed of Thier own suppression of free speach ! Putin for one and were the Chinese represented ? And the Arab nations ! It was heartening to see the different nationalities but , and I'm only going by the pics on the news ! Thier didn't seem to be a mass Muslim presence ? That's a pity , a huge missed opportunity ! But like I say I could be wrong on that

The Jordanian royal family were present. One can trace their lineage back to the Prophet Mohammed. That would have sent a powerful message to muslims worldwide.
