Reefy Holes

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I meant to post this ages ago but kept forgetting.

Over Christmas, a florist on the Norwich ring road had "Reefy Holes" written in large letters on the blackboard they use for advertising.

The previous Christmas the board read "Xmas reefs", so it's fairly certain that reef means wreath.

Reefy holes caused some discussion though.

I think the writer of the signs is probably fairly dyslexic and meant to write holey reefs, meaning holly wreaths.

Any other suggestions?

(I'm not taking the piss out of the suspected dyslexic writer, incidentally. It just prompted an entertaining discussion about the meaning.)

Unless they meant that they have the wire rings you use to make your own wreaths?

Maybe they spelt it wrong deliberately as it will get people talking , more people talking more sales maybe.

"Or maybe there were some passing seahorses and he was offering them a home."

That's a cute thought.

On another note, can one be fairly certain? Or can it only ever be certain or uncertain?

Maybe it was a secret signal to his specific group of swingers about their next meet

Titz Towers, North Notts

I'm thinking of that episode of Open All Hours, where Arkwright misspelt an advert, so that he could sell everything to the person who came in to correct him
