Random one... I'm sending a care package to a friend in Australia with random gift bits and food bits. My question is... what food things do we have that they don't?

I already know about jaffa cakes.and Kendal mint cake. And possibly smarties. But what else?

Also been told their chocolate isn't as nice because it has something in to stop it melting?

Please help me!

Crisps. They don't seem to have a big variety out there.

Take care: Australia is incredibly iffy about foodstuffs coming into the country

Definitely chocolate. There are some shops sell british choc, but its horrifically expensive. My best mate lives out there now.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I'd think variety.

On a similar topic, a friend of the family has had her daughter move to Canada and she has tea sent to her. Ruddy Yorkshire tea of all things.

Yeah I'm going to check what i can send before I send it but been on the customs website thing and it says chocolate and sweets is ok. Some dairy products etc etc as long as I declare it properly. The fines come from not declaring everything.

You can get jaffa cakes, smarties and most of the same Cadburys chocolates as you get here. Processed foods are fine to send but anything fresh, which could possibly contain disease is prohibited.

The best thing to do is ask your friend what products they are missing. Or google "British foods in Australia" and go through the online shops that cater to ex pats there.

I've tried asking her but she's not sure lol. She did say she's never had jaffa c cakes so that is in. And she can get reeces from "lolly shops" which I'm guessing is like our random imported sweet shops lol

I'm gonna be spending all of next january in sydney so no doubt I'll get shopping lists of stuff to take with me lol

I have just returned from Aus. Their Jaffa cakes and chocolate taste quite different and you have to hunt high and low for unsmoked bacon but otherwise you can buy most things you get here. Titans are just penguin biscuits in a different wrapper.

Yorkshire pudding mix?

You mean that they don't have flour, eggs and milk?

Probably the same old reason with not heating up oil or fat etc first before adding pudding mix
