I have recently fitted a few floating shelves purchased from B +Q. Was wondering why they are called floating shelves?Initially I thought that they might be self levelling . However to fix them , you simply screw a support bar to the wall a the shelf slides into two bars which protrude out. .

It's because they supports are hidden and they look like they are just floating on the wall, hence the name

Hex

Titz Towers, North Notts

Useful for holding bath soap, a rubber duck and shampoo plus blackjacks?

Have you tried taking them in the bath with you? It may answer your question!
