Whilst not exclusively, I've noticed many times over the years that women who are already in a relationship, both in the real world and on here seem to be a lot more friendly, more open, conversational and just generally a lot easier to get to know than single women. That's not to say there aren't single women who also have those qualities, they just seem to be found a lot more frequently in women in relationships, and wondered why this is?

We've been split up 3 years. I talk to who I like now. Id say I'm pretty approachable and friendly to anyone that's not obviously a knob head ha!

We're polite to everyone regardless, treat others as you would want to be treated in life.

Be it on-line for in real life, a stranger is a friend you have not met yet

I think it's because as a woman we like to know a bit more about the man we are going to have a sexual encounter with. I might be wrong but that's how it was with me x

I have noticed this and I think it's simple lots of single girls don't want to be branded as tarts so automatically have this strange defence mechanism!

Girls who are already attached don't need to worry about this!

I think it depends on the relationship. When I was with my ex I wouldn't say boo to a goose as he totally stripped my self esteem.

I've been with Paul 7 years now and over that time he has helped bring me back to who I was before I was with the ex.

Now I'll talk to anyone and I try to be friendly and approachable. I think it is purely down to people's own self worth how easy they find it to talk to others

Pretty much what Shel said. Personally my husband gives me confidence and I feel as though I don't have to prove anything to anyone, because its him that knows me best. Therefore, more open and 'approachable' than certainly I would be if I was single. Not to say that is the reason for all the ladies though, single or otherwise xx

I keep myself to myself, am not particularly approachable and I'd even go so far as to say antisocial sometimes.

Since I've been in a relationship since I was 16 I'm not sure where I fit into the theory.

I've never noticed any correlation between singlehood/coupledom and approachability, openness or any other characteristic - it's always been purely down to the person as an individual.

I know many single women (friends, relations, workmates) that are as outgoing as the married/partnered women I know - and as many quiet, shy, reserved ones in each category.

And of course - all the married/partnered ones were single once.

I chat to anyone me but in fairness a woman in a relationship does not have the stress of a single woman.

The single woman has to look after herself therefore more guarded even if she is not showing it.
