"Toyota are going to give away some of their secrets to the rest of the worlds car manufacturers in order to speed up the development worldwide of hydrogen fuel celled vehicles. They of course will be ahead of the rest and are introducing theirs to the UK next year. A clever strategy as we will need refueling points and if all manufacturers are developing their own, we'd get them quicker. . Great. If they figure a way to get hydrogen to fill it with it would be even better " Put an electric current through water, if I remember correctly from school.

Lol yeah they know how to do it, it's doing it at a cost effective rate.... It's called energy return on investment or EROI . It currently takes 1.4kw of energy to get 1kw worth of hydrogen. So we're getting less out than were putting in... OK so efficiency could improve we might get that down to say a 50% eroi that still means we need shit loads of electric to produce the hydrogen. OK so we use solar panels to produce the electric to get the hydrogen... It's free yeah, well not quite you currently would need about 50m²of panels to produce the electric to get the hydrogen, we get the efficiency of them up 500% we only need 10m² .. That's do able. Well yeah but we would run out of every raw material needed to build solar panels to replace just 30% of the current vehicles onto hydrogen... Hydrogen fuel cells are not that much of a new technology... It's the getting the hydrogen cheaply and on Mass that is tricky
