a six year old.

I did it for 3 months and had to stop.

I just couldn't imagine it.

Any women here fed beyond the 2-3 years?

Nope I did it for 6 months with the kids. Although I do regularly have a horny 44 year old attached to the nipple.

I clicked on 'This Morning ' and there was a mother talking about it.

I think I'm okay with it save for her putting the images online.

Surely the arrival of teeth might have some bearing on when to quit?

Not really.

Some babies are even born with teeth.

I watched it on this morning. Very cruel on the child, will no doubt be bullied because of it.

I breastfed for 3 weeks, couldn't do it any longer and she wasn't getting enough, I wanted to but she wasn't making them gains!

I breast fed for 15 months and that was enough... I think 6 is just wrong! Pictures of it everywhere is just not necessary, if she's going to do it, keep it private !

I BF for 9 months and wish I had done longer but had to go back to work full time.

My child is now 6 and it feels weird to think someone is breastfeeding a child of that age! Although I am a strong advocate of a woman's right to do so, you have to separate and encourage independence at some stage!

Just the teething alone made me stop, they start chewing on you and it hurts!

Think it's good that people breastfeed for as long as they can OP, i also think it's a nice way to bond with a child, similar to hugging or kissing them.

Kind of get the feeling its more about the mother either clinging to a child's babyhood, or just making a political and ethical point. Either way, its the child that will get the odd looks when they tell their friends. Its unnecessary and unintentionally cruel.

I find it rather strange. My son is 6 next month and I can't even begin to think about what It would be like to breast feed him. It feels a bit wrong to me if he touches my boobs! The longest I fed for was 5 months with my daughter.

little house on the praire

My son was born at 32 weeks and had to be tube fed so I never got the chance to attempt to breast feed with all the adverts and awareness about breast milk being best I spent the best part of 20 years guilt ridden so although I agree its a good start to a babies life those that can't breast feed for what ever reason shouldn't be made to feel guilty

With a cracking view

Once had a mum offer to make me a custard tart with her milk

She made them for her 6 year old daughter, and her daughters friends ....

I politely declined ...

I can have some very strange conversations at work

Still trying to work out the benefits of breast milk for a 6 year old !

Herts

As much as I would've loved to breastfeed, our little one had some problems and had to be tube fed. I expressed milk for about 6 weeks and he got the important stuff but near the end he had to be topped up with formula anyway as he was eating more than I could produce.

I think even then, I would've stopped at 6months. A year MAX. Surely it holds no real benifits to a 6 year old???

bradford

my ex was just at the hospital 1 day and only did the breast feeding for one day as soon as out the hospital the tin came out for the baby milk

its the one where the nurses make sure the child is breast feeding or feeding while in hospital before they can go home situation

made no difference anyway both over 6ft tall
