Its a activity watch, shows your steps, sleep, stairs climbed etc over the day. There is a load on the market like Garmin vivofit.

Is that really necessary though? It's pretty simple. Lose weight, - deficit, gain weight surplus, find your maintenance/ weigh weekly. Adjust your Macros with a 40/40/20% scheme of protein/carb/fat. -_-

No its not necessary but good idea when you out and about all day and on your feet.

I often wonder if these kind of things give you a false sense of security

As in ...omg look how active I've been, I can let myself have that chocolate bar or extra glass of wine etc

They're pretty cool but I'm not sure if they track everything I'd want it to. I just like the display

It's not always that simple for everyone. And most people wouldn't understand half of what you have just written. The guideline is 10,000 steps a day and I don't think it will hurt anyone if they want to see how near to that they are getting.

OP.. I have a polar watch which tracks calories burnt and my heart rate. Again, not a necessity but I've found it very interesting to know how different exercises are working for me with regards to burning fat etc. most of my exercise is weight based. I don't use the extra calories as food though, it all helps towards my deficit.

I keep toying with the idea of getting one. But most of gym based stuff is weight based so it wouldn't measure that accurately. And any running I do I track with an app on my phone so pointless really.

Absolutely - for people in the wrong mindset. Which means that any kind of exercise will warrant a reward.

I am the opposite red most of my gym is cardio (bike, rowing machine, treadmill ) and a bit of weights but I find that fitbit duplicates the info that is coming of my phone so in the end I just keep a record in a spreadsheet what distance I am doing in what time

Apologies I suppose you're correct, though it's an easy thing to learn. There's a lot more which I didnt say as I don't think everyone would want an essay.

I am using purely to see how active I am during the day as I am on my feet all day. I am not using to feed off if I have been a good boy. I still exercise every day. Eat 3 meals a day drink at least 2lts of water.

So for me it is not exercise trainer or a food bank.

You got some ideas like?

Lol I'd like it to track some plyometric/HIIT training. If it tracked weights it would be amazing but only pen n paper does that!
