Good afternoon forumites.

I am becoming puzzled as to the following body descriptions on FAB.

'Athletic,slim,average,curvy,ample,large,fabulous'

Granted we are all different in shape and size but some of the profiles on here should be highlighted under the trade description act FFS.

I am thinking it would be better to just have actual body sizes to avoid misconceptions or even a size guide beside each description before selecting. The question is though what do the majority class as the correct size for each category? Possibly a question too hard and diverse to answer.So should we just make things simple and say selection should be slim,average,athletic,large?

It may be easier just to look at someones pictures than what size they have down then you can make your own judgement. I never go by what bodytype they put down i just look at the pictures and if i like i like regardless of what they have written down

Obviously pictures can be a good judge of sexual appeal but on this site pictures are optional, body size is not and must be selected on profile.

I appreciate though that you base your sexual attraction on pictures alone,I though do not.

i dont think any of us base sexual attraction (likes . dislikes) on pics alone.

its a guideline like anything else.

and hopefully time will tell if your sexually compatable or not.

i certainly dont disregard anyone on size but prefer to chat and meet and take it from there.

If in a club scene its easier if you fancy someone or not and believe me, the FUN can come from some unexpected sources,

the secret is ...is to be open minded rather than narrow minded and stick everyone into little boxes.

You can put your preferences in your profile, that saves time.

Oh touchy touchy, my original post was not just centred around ladies. Guys have to imput body size too!

Think you have taken my post wrong, i dont base sexual attraction on photos, i base it on lots of things but if i see a picture of someone im quite capable of judging whether i think there small, medium or large. The size is irrelivant if someone looks nice they look nice.

i don understand, there is a problem with the sizes issue,

but large to 1 person, does mean the same to another..

I like a man with a bit of meat on his bones, now to some ppl, they make think that means i like fat men, but trying to be nice about it etc etc

so maybe yes, sml ppl are this size and big ppl are between this and this size, its a dificult one

Although pictures are not compulsory you must of seen there pictures otherwise how would you know if you didnt think they fitted in the right catogary lol. Im sure if someone looks at my profile they dont need to go and see what size ive put my self its pretty damn obvious

Who says your seething? That was a comment to another poster who immediately went on the defensive.

I agree that little boxes can allow the fun factor to be lost but the original post was centred around the box that must be filled in on every profile, body size, and peoples interpretation of there size.

If you are saying the boxes should be removed then fair play but I also think to categorise peoples choices within this category as "narrow minded" is unfair.

Choices are different for all and I believe the majority do have a particular body type that they find the most sexually attractive. The other attributes that make up the ideal sex partner then follow or vice versa but it is still a major part for the majority.

Well in your example then should we get rid of the height box? Or is that a box the majority of people do look at also. A picture very rarely can show height but I am sure that is an area that again the majority will look at on the profile.

personally i ignore the body size bit ..ya either like someone or you dont if you base it on body size length of teeth,nose , ...perfection no disabilities etcetc .,..your gonna miss people who really make it happen and are genuine and great fun ..no one .,..but one one is perfect once you have compromise in any area ,you may as well go the whole hog and base it on chemistry .2D pictures tell you nothing .and stats tell you little really

I don't think having a size box would necessarily help either...women who are the same clothing size can be a completely different body shape and can looker bigger/smaller than their size. Also, some women would lie about their sizes which would be of no help whatsoever. I say just look at the pictures...and if you want to see more then just ask - it usually works!

but who decides what size is classed as small large etc? everybody's perspective is different What one person classes as large the next might consider medium.it really is a tough decision to make. you also a six 16 on a 6ft woman is going to look completely differently on a 5 ft woman and im sure the same on men. so even sizes like that wont be a great help

Well a man did indeed write the post but I am talking about all profile descriptions, though in fairness I can only base my assumptions on my profile searches of single ladys.

Society decides,just like always! I appreciate the height remarks but again that is on the list for all to see though you are very correct when it comes to body shape .

I am starting to think possibly just waist size for men and dress size for ladies is the way forward......

Why the need to have boxes for boxes for boxes, trying to typecast what you are?

What happened to conversing, seeing if they appeal, and here's a concept meeting them.

maybe we could have profiles as follows.

Height...5'2

Height in Heels 5'2 - 6'1

Breast size 38DD....depend ing on bra and uplift...however sag to knees when off. Flesh coloured with nipples measuring 2" when erect and surround by light to mid brown areola.

Weight...12 stone...depending on how good you are at judging weight, if your good...13st.

the point is moot: most people will describe themselves how THEY see themselves. cuddly to one person might mean a different thing to another. you are leaving too much to interpretation

At the end of the day, does it matter.

If you are attracted to slim, your not going to contact anyone with BBW and vice versa.

So you have curvy inbetween, but as was once pointed out, those will put the description they se themselves as not what another may percieve.

If in doubt....ask!

This post is going slightly off topic. It is about the fact that all members must make the body size choice on there profile. It is not about the other suggestions that any genuine individual would do to meet there match.

If your suggestion is no boxes for size then great put that forward as your suggestion with comments but some of the replies read like they are responding to someone who has size issues. That is not the case, it is the description of the size that should be at the core of this discussion.

No,it is about the choices that FAB give us to make when we determine our size and ones assumption of there size.

I appreciate it is a topical issue but I think one that should be addressed in a manner that does not discriminate against size but offers a more accurate description.

You could simplify it to small/med/large.... you would still find people of all sizes in each of those catagories depending on how they view themselves.

I will simplify matters then. I have absolutely no understanding how a size 24 dress lady can describe herself in body size category as curvy. I have no understanding how a size 18 dress lady can describe herself as average.

Just 2 examples of course but that is why I mention the trade descriptions act..FFS and again that is not me discriminating against the size, only the profile description.

PS. Lots lie but I can only presume they are unaware that there size category is way off target.

PPS. If there was a cock size area and a gentleman said 14inch. You arrange meet based on this fact and other sexual attractions. You meet then discover its a 4incher?

Ok, well i am a dress size 24, on my profile it says im large build, yet lots of messages i get from guys say they like curvy women, so that is other peoples (some other peoples) perception of me. So we all percieve ourselves oneway and others will another way. But call me stupid but i still think it would be easier to just look at a picture and see for yourself.

Your suggestion then is to scrap the body size description and replace with photos. I agree that would be a much better method and if it became compulsory just like the body size list then that would be FAB.

I agree also it is all about perceptions but just think that body size list allows far too many.

Where on earth did i suggest that. My suggestion is if your so hung up on someone being a certain body size is to only message people with pictures then you know they will suit your criteria.

Im sorry but you have completly lost me. If you (or anyone else has in there head a certain shape that they want to meet then surely you would look at a picture rather than check a box. If someone says they are good looking in there profile surely you would look at a picture to see if you agree?

Everyone is going to percieve everyone differently so its always going to be hard for everyone to fit into "the right box" and just because people cannot see it from your point of view doesnt mean its close to the bone. I just cant understand why you cant judge if you like someone or not by reading there profile and looking at a picture. Yes we all have individual perceptions and just because someone may put curvy or slim ect and you dont agree doesnt mean others wont. This thread got all personal...what a crap time to go to bed, but amusing to wake up too.

So all agreed size is irrelevant, and boils down to self perception and equally others pereceptions of you.

Changing choices to simplified ones wouldnt make a jot of difference, but if we were to put our actual size in it would help those who want all the facts to make an informed choice rather than anything to do with the person behind the description.

Photos should be used as an idicator....hmmm subjective...they could of been taken in the 80's lol.

There are good large people, good smaller people, bad large people, bad smaller people and every other body configuration in between. It all comes back to the same old thing, each to their own. Who's right? who's wrong? well aren't we all right if it's what works for us? All I will say is again read the 1st post, I am in no way disrespecting any human being. It was only a discussion based on the options that FAB give us to select.

I do find it very amusing though that quite a few wish to jump the gun and immediately start disrespecting me for having the audacity to create such a thread.

In relation to MM I label no man or woman. My post is not about me labelling as some have suggested. It is only about FABS choices and peoples perceptions of were they fit.

Fabio after consultation with a major buyer for a fashion chain I would have to disagree. The UK dress size average is now a 14. This moved from a size 12 2 years ago as the UK average.

Obviously it is all personal choice and indeed the question of body size and peoples perception of it is obviously too difficult to ever change(well on this thread anyway as it does not have the broad spectrum of body size categories that is needed for an open,honest debate)

In my experience an awful lot of females on this site have no pictures on their profiles, only in the private gallery, or the pics are of an arty variety which leaves most things to the imagination. It then becomes more useful to have a "standardised" size/body type description.

Personally I'd say 12 to 16 was average. But then my attitude on that has changed recently anyway. I'd only ever been with women who where size 12 at most, but now I've had my eyes opened

We never look at the "body size" or "body type" box on a profile.

We chat to people, look at their pics then make our minds up - It's the same with age - we chat then make our minds up about someone, if they turn to be fat, thin, old, young then so be it

I completely agree but as previously discussed I do not wish a minority to get a perfectly valid forum post removed. There is some good content already and I am sure more is to come. Lets just get back please to the topic in debate x

Mr X, you know nothing about me but still you feel fit to judge my character.

I appreciate you and some others find the fashion buyer statement amusing. I am glad to hear this as it shows you do not have an open mind to the individuals who choose to join this site, or the social circles they choose to keep.

I presume though that most will now have an appreciation of your character judging by the fact you believe "words" on my profile "rank alongside some of the most evil tyrants who have ever lived"I can only wish that was the case and our world would be a much better place. I am not here for credibility, I am an individual who is here for fun and I can fully appreciate the difference between us is "standards". I have no issue with this, each to there own and if yourself and some others used this in your day to day lives then maybe you would understand the point of this thread.

PS. I did have some other comments but they seem to have been removed by the MOD. Perhaps just a little to "close to the bone" but hopefully some forum users managed to glimpse them and can appreciate the sentiment x
