Who's Ready for 12th Night?

Just a bag of Twiglets, the boring savoury biscuits(but no cheese) and a bumper box of Crawford's biscuits we were given left to eat, then Christmas will officially be over.

Who else hasn't quite finished yet?

We still have, mulled wine, baileys and different ales, mince pies, Christmas pudding and rum sauce, lots of difference cheeses and assorted cheese biscuits, assorted chocolates and cheese nibbley thingys! Think we have enough to last us until Easter time

Three different people bought me one of those huge boxes of chocolates from Hotel Chocolat each. I'm so sick of chocolate, and so is everyone in my family.

Its official Easter is here!

It must be if Sainsburys are already filling their shelves with hot cross buns and i know the Easter eggs have started arriving in the warehouses

Roll on Valentines day, Halloween, bonfire night oh soon be Christmas again in October

I've just spotted the Christmas tree chocolates!

Dec 24th, Advent

Dec 25th, 1st day of Xmas

Jan 5th, 12th day of Xmas

Jan 6th, 1st day of Epiphany.

Imho, The confusion around 12th night arises for two reasons: from the fact that in biblical times the day started at sunrise, not midnight, so 12th night is 5th/6th jan; but also the modern superstition that all decorations must be down on 12th night. This is likely linked to Matthew's account, where the family destroy all evidence of their home in Bethlehem and flee to Egypt in order to avoid Herod's murder of the innocents. Naturally this would have occurred on evening 6th/7th Jan.

So, in summary,

a) if you were born before sunrise, you were indeed born on 12th night

b) you can choose which day to take down your decs (we like to vary it, just to mess with my ocd)

c) I always feel xmas is over on first day I have to return to work proper.

That's my serious post for the day!

My tree came down the day after Boxing Day and the leftover Xmas stuff got chucked at the same time, alcohol away in the cupboard, told all my family that if they bought me choc/biscuits for Xmas that I would give them away. lol. Normally they do it anyway but this year they didn't!

I took my tree down the other day. I know in Spain they do presents tomorrow. My mum refused to go to hospital in labour with me until she's taken the decs down x thanks very much for the info xx
