@ Soxy, you're right to a degree hun, but when you commit to meeting someone at a set time and place and then just don't show, that's just rude, especially if the other person has had to travel to get there.

I agree. You can cam, chat on the phone or whatever but it can still happen. And that is definitely someone else wasting your time.

Titz Towers, North Notts

At least meeting in a club there are 20 or more other people there if they don't show.

I've had one let down in the 2 years I've been dong this, a dubious excuse was given but hey ho, it happens. If it happens a lot maybe you need to change the way you go about selecting potential meets ?

3 times in the past 6 weeks. Then again it's always the risk on these sites. Have to take everything with a pinch of salt because the genuine people make this site a lot of fun.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I've never had a time waster, and only one guy cancelled with about 6 hours notice.

I chat for a good while before getting to the meet stage, and have a good idea that people will turn up before I agree to meet. If you get a lot of time wasters, perhaps look at your selection criteria as you are the common denominator.

If I were you I'd be looking at why I was being so gullible as to fall for it so often?

Soxy i have three kids and a job - and my spare time is precious. When i committ to meeting someone after weeks of chat - turning down many other nice guys in the process simply due to kack of free time - and the guy that i'm supposed to meet doesn't show or dissappears into the ether - then it can get very upsetting at times!

If it weren't for my friends on the forums and at clubs and parties, i'd have ditched fab long ago!!

Good luck op - would recommend chatting lots on the forums and maybe meeting people from there? Xx

I suppose having a rule of not meeting someone unless I've exchanged regular messages with them for over a month and spoken to them on the phone a number of times makes me gullible? I'd suggest I've been unlucky recently

You spoke over a month ? That seems a very long time to be chatting without arranging a meet. Would that not suggest they just wanted to chat rather than meet ? Still, not nice for that to happen.

London

I've been here seven years: never had my time wasted. I set the rules: social meet during my lunch hour, I'd be there anyway or the station after work, I'd be there anyway.

After the social meet I take a day to work from home...should they not show up, I've work to do.

I don't go out of my way, I don't cancel other plans, it really is all about me and I make that crystal clear from the off.

I've found a way that works for me, one has to wonder though if people are constantly being stood up.

So do I. I'm very careful about how and who I choose. But it can happen. Not often but it does.

Sorry you've misunderstood me. It's me who won't meet unless it's been a month. I'm a single dad and I'm very careful about who I invite into our house. Obviously I don't wait a month if I'm going to a party or club lol

Totally understand but why not try a social to get to know someone ? I won't invite anyone around my place until I've met them for a quick drink and at least you know they're up for meeting.

I do the social thing and have arranged my own socials in the past. I've had plenty of good meets. Just in the past 6 weeks I've had some bad luck.

No point in crying over spilt milk lol
